We consistently emphasize in our product descriptions that hand-made rugs will have natural imperfections. Each product page provides crucial information about these imperfections, ensuring you're fully informed before making a purchase. If these unique characteristics are likely to cause frustration, we advise choosing a machine-made product instead.

Characteristics of Hand-Made, Jute & Sisal Rugs

• Handmade Rugs: Each handmade rug in our collection is unique, with natural variations known as "Abrash." These imperfections encompass changes in colour, design, size, pattern, yarn, stitching, and texture. You may also notice natural fibre loss, shedding, rogue mixed colour yarns, and loose threads. These features give the rug character and ensure you own a one-of-a-kind product. Loose stray fibres can simply be trimmed with scissors—avoid pulling, as this may damage the weave.

• Shedding: Shedding is normal and expected in all wool rugs and is not considered a manufacturing fault. Shedding is a natural feature that does not impact the rug's durability, and some wool rugs may shed for their entire lifetime without wearing out.

• Natural Fiber Rugs: Rugs made from natural fibers like Jute and Sisal embrace their natural irregularities, adding to their charm. Variations in weave and shading are inherent to these materials, making each rug distinctive and captivating. In essence, all-natural grass fiber rugs are beautifully "perfectly imperfect."

• Odour Considerations: New rugs, especially those with synthetic latex backing, may have a temporary chemical smell, which fades over time. Additionally, wool rugs may have a natural, musty scent due to their animal fibre composition.

Customer Agreement

If uniformity and perfection are important to you, a handmade or natural Jute rug may not be the ideal choice. Machine-made rugs made from synthetic materials may be a better option for a more consistent look. Please note that even if you exchange a rug, the replacement will have its own distinct imperfections and characteristics.
