How does PayPal Pay in 3 work?
PayPal Pay in 3 is not available for every purchase or customer. PayPal determines whether Pay in 3 is available and whether your application is approved. Rug Love cannot influence PayPal's decision.
3 Interest-Free Payments
PayPal Pay in 3 splits an eligible purchase into 3 payments. Your first payment is made when you purchase, with the remaining 2 payments automatically taken monthly over the following 2 months.
No Interest or Late Fees
PayPal Pay in 3 is interest-free and PayPal does not charge setup or late fees for the Pay in 3 product.
You remain responsible for making all repayments due under your Pay in 3 agreement.
Eligible Purchases
PayPal currently offers Pay in 3 for eligible online purchases between £20 and £3,000.
Pay in 3 may not be available for every purchase, even where the order value falls within this range.
Manage Your Plan
Your Pay in 3 plan and repayment schedule can be viewed and managed through your PayPal account or the PayPal app.
PayPal also provides reminders before scheduled payments are due.
Eligibility & Credit Checks
Pay in 3 is a credit agreement and is subject to status and approval. You must be aged 18 or over and a UK resident.
PayPal assesses your financial position using information including your usage and history with PayPal. If PayPal requires further information, it may carry out a soft credit check with an external credit reference agency.
A soft credit search is only visible to you and does not affect your credit score. If you use Pay in 3, however, PayPal may share information about your loan and repayment history with credit reference agencies. Missed payments may therefore be recorded and could affect your ability to obtain credit in the future.
What happens if I miss a payment?
PayPal does not charge late fees on Pay in 3, but this does not mean missed payments have no consequences.
If a payment cannot be collected, PayPal may contact you for repayment and restrict you from taking out further borrowing. Missed payments may also be reported to credit reference agencies and could make future borrowing more difficult or more expensive.
You should only use Pay in 3 if you are confident you can afford the scheduled repayments.
Returns & Refunds
Paying with PayPal Pay in 3 does not change Rug Love's returns process. If you need to return an item, please submit your return through our Returns Portal.
Once an eligible refund has been processed by Rug Love, it is returned through the original payment method. PayPal will then apply the refund to your Pay in 3 plan as appropriate.
You should continue to manage any payments due under your PayPal agreement until your refund has been reflected in your PayPal account.
PayPal Buyer Protection
Eligible purchases made using PayPal Pay in 3 may benefit from PayPal Buyer Protection. Eligibility, time limits and other terms apply.
PayPal Buyer Protection is separate from your statutory rights against Rug Love and does not replace those rights.

Section 75 Protection
PayPal Pay in 3 agreements entered into on or after 15 July 2026 are regulated Deferred Payment Credit agreements.
For qualifying purchases, Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 may provide additional protection where the cash price of a single item or service is more than £100 and no more than £30,000, subject to the legal requirements being met.
Section 75 is separate from PayPal Buyer Protection and your rights directly against Rug Love.
Who manages my Pay in 3 plan?
PayPal provides and manages Pay in 3. Rug Love cannot approve Pay in 3 applications, alter your repayment schedule, make decisions about your eligibility or make changes to your PayPal account.
