The Athena rug is made using a cut pile construction, which naturally reflects light differently depending on the viewing angle. This means the rug may appear lighter or darker from opposite sides — a normal and expected characteristic of cut pile rugs. When brushed in one direction, it can appear lighter or more muted; brushed the other way, deeper tones and details become more visible. Gently brushing the surface after unrolling will help the pile settle evenly.
