The Isla ISL01 Blue Rug showcases refined elegance and timeless charm, brought to life through a textured short pile and a delicately detailed traditional floral pattern framed by a slim, bordered edge. Expertly machine-woven in Turkey, this rug features a dual-fibre high-low construction — the raised high pile (100% polypropylene) defines the ornate motifs with clarity and durability, while the lower base pile (100% polyester) adds a silky smooth backdrop with a subtle sheen. Together they create a soft, dimensional surface that is both tactile and visually rich. With its 8 mm low-profile height, it’s a practical and elegant choice for modern and traditional spaces alike.
The colours and shades present in this rug include:
-
Powder Blue – Dominant across the background, lending a calming and serene foundation that brightens interiors.
-
Ivory Cream – Prominent throughout the floral motifs and border, enhancing contrast and adding refinement.
-
Soft Taupe – Subtly woven through the pattern, providing gentle warmth and depth.
-
Muted Gold – Found in accent details within the floral design, adding understated radiance and sophistication.
-
Warm Beige – Lightly dispersed through transitional areas, balancing the cooler blue tones for a harmonious finish.
The Isla ISL01 Blue Rug harmonises Powder Blue, Ivory Cream, Soft Taupe, Muted Gold, and Warm Beige in an intricate traditional floral bordered pattern that radiates elegance and tranquillity. Its textured short high-low pile pairs a polypropylene high pile for definition with a polyester low pile for softness and a delicate sheen. Crafted in Turkey and backed with jute and latex, it offers a low-shedding, smooth, and easy-care surface ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, and serene, light-toned interiors. This piece captures the perfect blend of heritage-inspired beauty and contemporary comfort.

Delivery at a Glance
In-stock orders are dispatched within 1–2 working days (Monday–Friday), excluding public holidays. If your order has not been dispatched within this timeframe, please check whether you have ordered a pre-order item. Rug Love is an online-only retailer operating a delivery-only service. Collections are not available. We offer one standard delivery service for all orders, with no alternative or additional delivery options available
Once dispatched, everything is sent on a next-working-day service, so you can normally expect delivery on the following working day. Please allow up to 48 hours where an unexpected courier delay occurs. Most items are sent with DX.
Once you receive your tracking link, you can track your delivery and, for standard DX Express deliveries, change the delivery day yourself directly through the courier tracking page. The courier will also send delivery updates directly using the contact details supplied with your order. On the day of delivery, DX Express normally provides an approximately 2-hour delivery window.
Items measuring 200cm or longer may be sent using DX Freight. DX Freight tracking references begin with “L”. These are all-day delivery appointments between 8am and 6pm and no delivery time slot is available.
All deliveries are sent signed-for by default. Typing “leave safe”, “leave in shed”, “leave behind gate” or similar into the courier website does not remove the signature requirement. If you want the signature removed, submit a Rug Love support request and we will request this directly from the courier.
Scottish Highlands and remote mainland deliveries require an additional 5 working days. If you ordered multiple items, including a rug and anti-slip, each item will normally have its own tracking reference and may arrive separately or with a different courier. Please check each tracking link we send you for the status of each item.
Delivery information is provided in your order confirmation email and subsequent order emails, on every product page, within the Delivery section of our chatbot, and through the website header and footer.
Please do not contact the courier directly. Submit a Rug Love support request. As the sender, we have access to priority retailer support channels and will contact the courier directly on your behalf.

Dispatch & Delivery Information
Rug Love is an online-only retailer and we operate a delivery-only service. Customer collection is not available.
There are no additional standard delivery charges added at checkout.
In-stock orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days (Monday–Friday), excluding public holidays.
Our quoted 1–2 business day timeframe refers to dispatch, not delivery. The majority of in-stock orders are dispatched on the first working day, but please allow the full 1–2 business day timeframe.
Everything is sent on a next-working-day service once dispatched.
Once you receive our “Your Order is On the Way” dispatch email and tracking information, you can normally expect your order to arrive on the next working day.
Please allow up to 48 hours where an unexpected delay occurs within the courier network.
- Deliveries take place Monday to Friday.
- Standard delivery hours are generally 8am–6pm.
- DX Express normally provides an approximately 2-hour delivery window.
- DHL normally provides an approximately 1-hour delivery window.
- DX Freight deliveries, used for items measuring 200cm or longer, have tracking references beginning “L” and are an all-day 8am–6pm appointment. No time slot is available.
Please allow an additional 5 working days for delivery. These deliveries are handed to a local third-party courier for the final part of the journey. Full details are provided below.
🔎
Tracking Your Order
Once your order is dispatched, you will automatically receive an email titled “Your Order is On the Way” containing your tracking information.
Once you receive this email, your order has been dispatched on a next-working-day service and you can normally expect delivery on the next working day.
The courier will also send delivery updates directly using the telephone number and email address supplied with your order.
If multiple parcels have been dispatched, each parcel may have its own tracking reference and may arrive separately.
🗓️
Changing Your Delivery Day
Once your order has been dispatched, check the tracking link contained within your “Your Order is On the Way” email.
For standard DX Express deliveries, you can manage the following directly through the DX tracking page without contacting Rug Love:
- Nominate a neighbour who can accept and sign for the delivery.
- Select another delivery day when somebody will be available.
🕐
Delivery Times & Time Slots
Delivery routes are created by the courier on the morning of delivery. Where a timed delivery window is available, it is generated automatically after the driver's route has been planned.
It is not possible for Rug Love to request a morning, afternoon or particular delivery time.
Delivery routes are created by the courier on the morning of delivery and any available time slot is generated automatically once the driver's route has been planned.
We always provide the telephone number supplied with your order to the courier by default.
Drivers do not call ahead before delivery. Please use the courier tracking information and delivery window where available.
DX Express routes and 2-hour time slots are generated on the morning of delivery. If you are checking early, please allow until approximately 10:30am for the route and delivery window to be generated. If no time slot has appeared by lunchtime, this normally means there is an operational issue affecting that day’s delivery.
In most cases, DX will automatically reschedule the delivery for the following working day, so you do not need to take any action. Tracking will update once the new delivery has been scheduled.
The above does not apply to DX Freight tracking references beginning with “L”. DX Freight is an all-day appointment between 8am and 6pm and no delivery time slot is provided.
Delivery windows are estimates rather than guaranteed appointments. Traffic, earlier deliveries and operational issues can affect the driver's route.
✍️
Signature Requirement, Neighbours & Safe Places
Our deliveries are sent on a signed-for service by default. This is particularly important for DX deliveries, where the driver is normally required to obtain a signature before leaving the rug.
If you would like the rug to be left without a signature, you must submit a support request to Rug Love. We will contact DX directly and request that the signature requirement is removed.
For a standard DX Express delivery, you will normally receive a 2-hour delivery window on the morning of delivery.
If you will not be available, the DX tracking page normally allows you to:
- Nominate a neighbour who can accept and sign for the delivery.
- Select another delivery day when somebody will be home.
The box provided on the DX website is intended primarily for nominating a neighbour or providing delivery information. Customers sometimes enter instructions such as “leave in shed”, “leave behind gate” or “leave in garage”.
Entering this type of instruction does not remove the signature requirement. The parcel remains booked on a signed-for service, so the driver may not follow an instruction asking them to leave the rug unattended.
Please submit a Rug Love support request containing:
- Your Rug Love order number.
- The safe place where you would like the rug left.
- Any additional information that may help the driver.
We will contact DX directly and request that the signature requirement is removed.
If you specifically ask us to remove the signature requirement and authorise the courier to leave the parcel unattended in your nominated safe place, responsibility for the parcel passes to you once the courier has left it in accordance with those instructions.
🚐
DX Express Deliveries
DX Express is commonly used for standard-sized rug deliveries.
- Once dispatched, your order is sent on a next-working-day service.
- DX Express normally provides an approximately 2-hour delivery window on the morning of delivery.
- The delivery window is generated automatically when DX creates the driver's route. Rug Love cannot select the time.
- If no delivery slot is generated once the day's routes have been allocated, this often indicates an operational issue.
- Where delivery cannot be completed that day, DX will normally automatically reschedule the parcel for the following working day.
🚛
DX Freight & Larger Rugs
Items measuring 200cm or longer may be sent using DX Freight rather than DX Express.
- DX Freight tracking references normally begin with the letter “L”, for example L45559.
- Once dispatched, the order is sent on a next-working-day service.
- DX Freight is an all-day delivery appointment between 8am and 6pm.
- No delivery time slot is available.
- Rug Love cannot request a morning, afternoon or specific delivery time.
- We provide your telephone number to DX, but drivers do not call ahead before delivery. Please make sure somebody is available during the 8am–6pm delivery appointment.
Unlike DX Express, an “L” DX Freight delivery does not receive a 2-hour delivery window. The 8am–6pm period is the delivery appointment.
This does not necessarily mean the rug is currently travelling to your property. Please wait for the subsequent out-for-delivery update.
📦
Multiple Items & Split Deliveries
If you have ordered more than one item, including a rug plus anti-slip underlay, do not assume all items will arrive together.
- Each item will normally have its own tracking reference.
- Please check the dispatch and tracking information sent for each individual item.
- Rugs may be dispatched separately from different warehouses or suppliers.
- A rug and anti-slip underlay are separate products and may be sent as separate parcels.
- Different items can use different couriers and can arrive on different days or at different times.
- Parcels dispatched together can still arrive at different times during the day.
Anti-slip underlay is classed as a separate product. It may arrive with your rug or in a separate package.
- If anti-slip was added at checkout, both items will often be fulfilled together where possible.
- If supplied separately, it may be dispatched from a different location and have separate tracking.
- If your rug arrives without the anti-slip, check the separate tracking information first to see whether the underlay is still in transit or due separately.
If one parcel arrives first, please check all tracking information and allow until the end of the working day for any remaining parcel that is still shown as due.
🔁
Failed or Rescheduled Deliveries
If your order is not delivered on the scheduled day, you normally do not need to take any action.
- The courier will normally automatically reschedule the parcel for the following working day.
- Tracking should update once the next attempt has been scheduled.
- The most common reason for a failed delivery is that nobody was available to provide the required signature.
- Another common cause is an incorrect, incomplete or difficult-to-locate delivery address, including missing flat numbers, house numbers, street information or access codes.
- Courier operational issues, route capacity or driver availability can also cause a delivery to be rescheduled.
Submit a Rug Love support request and tell us that the order is no longer required. We will ask the courier to mark the parcel Return to Sender. Once the return-to-sender process has been confirmed, we will refund the order.
📍
Delivery Address Accuracy & Changes
Please check your delivery address carefully when placing your order and again when you receive your order confirmation.
Your delivery address is exported to the courier exactly as provided at checkout. Rug Love does not alter the address before dispatch, so please verify the details in your order confirmation carefully.
Common address-related problems include:
- Missing house or flat numbers.
- Incorrect postcodes.
- Missing street names.
- Incomplete building information.
- Missing gate or apartment access codes.
Contact us as quickly as possible with your order number and complete correct address. If the order has not yet been dispatched, we can update the details.
Once a parcel is already in transit, changes depend on the courier and stage of delivery and cannot always be guaranteed.
🏢
Flats, Apartments & Restricted-Access Buildings
We frequently encounter delivery difficulties at flats and apartment buildings because of restricted access, missing entry information and expectations that drivers will carry large rugs to upper floors.
Courier delivery is to the closest accessible ground-floor delivery point by default. The customer is responsible for accepting the rug there and arranging for it to be moved from that point to the flat or apartment.
Courier drivers are not required to carry rugs upstairs, use internal staircases or lifts, or take large and heavy items to an upper-floor apartment door.
Please make sure somebody is available to accept the delivery at the closest accessible ground-floor point and that you have made your own arrangements to move the rug from there if required.
Your delivery address must contain all information required for the driver to locate and access the building.
- Include your full flat or apartment number.
- Provide any gate code, entry code or building access information.
- Include useful reception, concierge or security information where appropriate.
- Where a building has a reception, concierge, security desk or designated parcel area, the courier may deliver the rug there.
- Building access restrictions may prevent the driver from entering beyond the main entrance or accessible ground-floor point.
📡
Understanding Common Tracking Updates
DX Express routes and 2-hour time slots are generated on the morning of delivery. If checking early, please allow until approximately 10:30am. If no time slot has appeared by lunchtime, this normally means there is an operational issue affecting that day’s delivery.
If no 2-hour time slot is generated once the day's routes have been allocated, this normally indicates an operational issue and delivery will not take place that day.
DX will normally automatically reschedule the parcel for the following working day and tracking will update accordingly.
If tracking shows that the parcel has been scanned back into the depot or storage after being out for delivery, it will not be delivered that day. Common reasons include driver availability, route capacity and other local operational issues. No action is required. The parcel will be automatically rescheduled for the following working day and tracking will update once the new delivery has been scheduled.
This can indicate a routing issue, misroute or temporary depot hold. In many cases this results in an approximately 24-hour delay before the parcel moves back through the delivery network.
Initially this can simply mean DX has received the shipment information but has not yet completed its first physical parcel scan.
If the status remains unchanged overnight or for an extended period, it can indicate a missed connection, missort or routing delay. These issues commonly resolve following the next courier scan.
On DX Freight deliveries this can appear before the actual delivery day. It does not necessarily mean the driver is currently travelling to your address. Please wait for the subsequent out-for-delivery update.
❓
Tracking Says Delivered but You Cannot Find the Parcel
Very few parcels genuinely go missing after being marked as delivered. In most cases, the parcel is located after checking the property, household, neighbours or delivery information.
- Porches, gardens, garages, sheds, outbuildings, behind gates and any nominated or obvious safe place.
- With every member of your household or family who may have accepted the delivery or instructed the driver where to leave it.
- With immediate neighbours who may have accepted the delivery.
- Reception, concierge, building security, mailrooms or designated parcel areas.
- Any courier delivery note or tracking instruction.
- The recipient or signature name shown in tracking.
- Any delivery photograph supplied by the courier.
- The delivery address shown on your order confirmation.
They resolve the majority of delivered-but-not-located enquiries and allow us to investigate genuine delivery issues more quickly.
If you still cannot locate the parcel, please do not contact the courier directly. Submit a Rug Love support request and we will investigate through our priority retailer support channels.
📸
Delivery Attempted at the Wrong Location?
If tracking records a delivery attempt but you believe the driver did not attend your property, please submit a Rug Love support request.
Through our courier support channels, where available we can request:
- GPS information from the recorded attempt.
- Photographic evidence.
- Driver information or delivery notes.
- Further information about the location attended.
This can help identify an incorrect-location attempt, address problem or courier error before the next delivery attempt.
↩️
Delayed Delivery No Longer Required?
If your delivery has been significantly delayed and the order is no longer required — for example, because it was required for a particular occasion — please submit a support request.
Where possible, we can contact the courier and request that the parcel is marked Return to Sender rather than continuing with delivery.
Once the return-to-sender process has been confirmed, we can process the appropriate cancellation/refund.
⚠️
Damaged Deliveries
All items should arrive fully sealed and protected. If the packaging is open, torn or visibly damaged, this can indicate damage in transit. Where possible, please reject the delivery.
Tell the driver that the parcel is visibly damaged, reject the delivery and ask for it to be marked Return to Sender. Please then let us know so we can arrange a replacement or the appropriate refund.
If you accept the delivery:
- Make the damage known to the driver and have the damage noted against the delivery where possible.
- Where possible, record that the packaging/item arrived damaged.
- Take clear photographs of the outer packaging before removing it.
- Take clear photographs of any damage to the rug.
- Submit a Courier Damage claim through our Returns Portal.
🛠️
Delivery Problems & Courier Investigations
Instead, submit a support request to Rug Love. As the sender, we have access to priority retailer support channels and can contact the courier directly on your behalf.
This is normally the quickest and most effective way to investigate an issue involving a Rug Love shipment.
Depending on the issue and courier, we can:
- Contact the courier through our priority support channels.
- Request GPS delivery information.
- Request delivery or attempted-delivery photographs.
- Check signature information.
- Request additional driver information.
- Investigate misroutes and depot holds.
- Request address corrections where possible.
- Request another delivery attempt.
- Request removal of the DX signature requirement.
- Request Return to Sender where appropriate.
- Open a missing-item investigation or courier claim.
📊
Stock Availability & “Last One”
Our website receives stock information from our supplier network, with stock availability updated hourly.
- Products shown as in stock are available according to the latest stock information received by our system.
- “Last One” means stock is extremely limited.
- Where only a very small quantity remains, another order may occasionally secure the final available unit before allocation is completed.
- If an item cannot ultimately be allocated, we will contact you and provide the available options.
📦
Orders Containing In-Stock & Pre-Order Items
If an order contains both in-stock and pre-order products, we do not normally hold the available products while waiting for the pre-order stock.
- In-stock items can be dispatched first.
- Pre-order items follow separately once stock becomes available.
- You may therefore receive separate dispatch confirmations and tracking references.
If you specifically prefer all items to be held and dispatched together once everything is available, please submit a support request.

Where We Deliver
Rug Love delivers to mainland UK, including the Scottish Highlands.
We currently do not deliver to:
- Northern Ireland.
- Republic of Ireland.
- Other EU destinations.
- Scottish Islands.
- Channel Islands.
- Isle of Man.
- BFPO addresses.
🏔️
Scottish Highlands & Remote Mainland Deliveries
We deliver to the Scottish Highlands at no additional delivery charge from Rug Love.
For Scottish Highlands and remote mainland locations, please allow an additional 5 working days for delivery on top of our normal delivery timeframe.
Deliveries to these locations operate differently from our standard mainland courier service.
The parcel travels through the main courier network before being handed to a third-party local courier for the final part of the journey.
Once the parcel has been handed to the local third-party courier, we have no further tracking visibility.
The local couriers used for these remote deliveries operate using manual paperwork completed by hand rather than electronic parcel scanning and live online tracking.
- Tracking will stop updating once the parcel has been handed to the local courier.
- The parcel can still be progressing towards you even though no further electronic tracking scans appear.
- The local courier records the final delivery manually using paperwork.
- Proof of Delivery information may only become available after the paperwork has been returned and processed.
This is normal for these locations and does not in itself mean that the parcel is missing. Please allow the full additional 5 working days for the local courier to complete delivery.
Scottish courier classifications can sometimes be confusing because courier delivery zones do not necessarily follow council or administrative boundaries.
Aberdeen City is separate from the Highland Council area, while Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire sit within the wider north-east / Grampian geography.
Different courier systems may therefore classify particular northern Scottish postcodes differently for operational purposes.
🗓️
Pre-Orders
Products available for pre-order display the latest estimated stock-arrival information on the product page.
- Pre-order due dates are updated hourly using the latest supplier information.
- The date shown is an estimated stock-arrival date, not a home-delivery date.
- Estimated dates can move because of manufacturing, shipping, port, container or other supply-chain delays.
- Once stock arrives, existing pre-orders are processed for dispatch automatically.
- Existing pre-orders are prioritised against incoming stock before new orders.
- You do not need to contact us when the stock arrives.
- You may cancel your pre-order at any time before dispatch for a full refund.
💳
20% Pre-Order Deposit Option
Where available, Rug Love offers a 20% pre-order deposit option.
- Pay 20% to secure the pre-order.
- This secures the rug at the agreed order price.
- Once the rug is available and ready for dispatch, the remaining balance becomes payable.
- An invoice/payment request will be sent for the outstanding balance.
- Available payment options include Klarna, Clearpay, PayPal and standard card/payment methods, subject to availability.
🇧🇪
Louis De Poortere Delivery Exception
Louis De Poortere rugs are dispatched directly from Belgium.
Because these products travel from the manufacturer's European distribution point rather than a UK warehouse, please allow up to 7 working days for delivery.
Tracking information will be supplied once your order has been dispatched.
🎄
Black Friday, Christmas & Peak Courier Periods
During exceptionally busy courier periods, particularly around Black Friday and Christmas, parcel volumes across UK courier networks increase significantly.
Our normal dispatch targets continue to apply where possible, but temporary delays can occur once parcels enter the courier network.
We recommend allowing additional time when an order is required for a particular date, event or gift during peak trading periods.
🔢
Finding Your Rug Love Order Number
When using our order lookup or contacting support, please use your Rug Love order number.
Your Rug Love order number is normally a five-digit number beginning with 2, for example #20433.
It can be found in your Rug Love order confirmation email and within the email subject line. Please check your spam or junk folder if you cannot locate the confirmation.

Need Help With Your Delivery?
If your tracking has not updated as expected, a delivery attempt appears to have taken place at the wrong location, your parcel is missing, you need the DX signature requirement removed, or you need us to contact the courier, please submit a Rug Love support request.
Please include:
- Your name.
- Your Rug Love order number.
- A brief explanation of the delivery issue.
- Any additional information that may help us investigate.
Our support team responds within 3 business hours.
Simply typing into the automated chatbot does not submit a support request to our team.
If you need a member of the Rug Love team to investigate something or take action with a courier, please use the Submit Support Request option within the chatbot.
PLEASE READ Important Information Before You Pre-Order
Our pre-order service allows you to reserve a rug from incoming stock before it becomes available for general sale.
Please only place a pre-order if you are comfortable with potential delays and flexible delivery times. Pre-order due dates are approximate and may change, sometimes more than once, before stock arrives.
- Check the latest due date: Dates are updated hourly on the relevant product page using the latest supplier information. Please check the date before ordering and continue to monitor it while you wait.
- The due date is NOT your delivery date: It is the approximate date the supplier expects stock to arrive, not the date your rug will be delivered to your doorstep.
- Existing pre-orders receive priority: Incoming stock is allocated to existing pre-orders in date order, from oldest to newest.
- Cancel yourself before dispatch: You can cancel at any time before dispatch for a full refund without contacting us. Deposit customers must use their Order Status page; paid-in-full customers can use their Order Status page or our chatbot.
DUE DATES Pre-Order Due Dates & Potential Delays
The due date is the approximate date the supplier expects to receive stock. It is not a guaranteed stock-arrival, dispatch or home-delivery date.
The date displayed on this product page is updated hourly using the latest information supplied by the manufacturer or supplier. Please monitor the date for your selected rug and size. The date may change after you place your order.
Why do dates change?
Manufacturing changes, international shipping, route diversions, port or customs delays, split shipments and warehouse processing can affect when stock arrives. Dates may move forward or backward more than once.
Are dates the same at other retailers?
Retailers sourcing the same rug from the same supplier work from the same incoming-stock date. No other retailer sourcing that stock will receive it sooner than Rug Love. Other websites may display older information if they have not yet been updated.
What if the date has passed?
A past due date does not confirm that stock has arrived. It may mean the supplier has not yet provided a revised estimate.
What if no due date is available?
Pre-ordering may be paused until the supplier provides an estimated arrival date. Where available, use the “Notify Me” option to request a back-in-stock email.
CANCELLATION Cancel Your Pre-Order Before Dispatch
You can cancel your pre-order yourself at any time before dispatch for a full refund. There is no need to provide a reason, contact Rug Love or wait for our approval.
If you paid a 20% deposit
Open your order confirmation email and select the “Order Status” button. On your Order Status page, select the cancellation option and follow the instructions.
Deposit pre-orders cannot be cancelled through our chatbot. Please use your Order Status page instead.
If you paid in full
You can cancel through either your Order Status page or our chatbot.
Chatbot – Paid-in-Full CancellationsOnce cancellation is completed, your refund will be initiated to your original payment method. The time taken for the funds to appear depends on your bank or payment provider.
The self-service pre-order cancellation option applies up to dispatch. Once dispatched, the applicable delivery, cancellation and returns procedures apply. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
PROCESS How Pre-Orders & Stock Allocation Work
Existing pre-orders receive priority over new orders. Incoming stock is allocated in date order, from the oldest pre-order to the newest. You do not need to place another order or contact us when stock arrives.
If the supplier receives fewer rugs than expected, there may not be enough stock to fulfil every outstanding pre-order. Orders not fulfilled from that shipment remain pending for the next allocation, unless the customer chooses to cancel.
Why does the website show “in stock” when my pre-order has not shipped?
Stock availability may update before all existing pre-orders have finished being processed. New orders do not take priority over your pre-order.
What does “Last One” mean?
Very limited stock remains available through the supplier. As supplier stock is shared across retailers, a remaining unit may sell out before your order is allocated. If this happens, we will contact you about waiting for the next shipment or cancelling for a full refund.
PAYMENT 20% Deposits, Balance Payments & Price Protection
Secure your rug with a 20% deposit
Where available, you can pay just 20% when placing your pre-order. Once your rug is in stock and ready for dispatch, we will email you to request the remaining 80% balance.
The balance is not charged automatically. Your order can proceed to dispatch once the outstanding balance has been paid.
Available payment methods may include Klarna, Clearpay, Laybuy, PayPal and standard card payments, subject to availability and provider terms.
Your pre-order price is protected
The price agreed when you place your pre-order remains your order price. If you secure a promotional price, such as during Black Friday, you keep that price even if the advertised price later increases.
If the advertised price decreases, your existing order price does not change automatically. Please contact us before dispatch if you would like to discuss a price adjustment. Do not cancel and reorder, as this would lose your original place in the allocation queue.
DELIVERY Dispatch, Delivery & Multiple-Item Orders
Once the supplier receives stock, existing pre-orders are allocated and processed. Paid-in-full orders proceed to dispatch when ready. Deposit customers receive an email requesting the remaining balance before dispatch.
The estimated stock-arrival date is not your dispatch or delivery date. Once your rug is available and ready, our normal dispatch timeframe is 1–2 working days.
Orders are normally sent using a next-working-day courier service after dispatch. Courier delays and additional transit time for Scottish Highlands or remote mainland addresses may apply.
You will receive a dispatch email titled “Your Order is On the Way” containing tracking information when your rug has been sent.
Track Your OrderWhat if my order contains in-stock and pre-order items?
In-stock items are normally dispatched separately. If you would prefer us to hold them until the complete order is available, please submit a support request before the in-stock items are dispatched.
OPTIONS If You Prefer Not to Wait
If you need a rug by a specific date, please choose an in-stock item. Pre-order dates are approximate and delivery by a particular date cannot be guaranteed.
If you have already pre-ordered, you can continue waiting and retain your allocation position, contact us to discuss an alternative rug, or cancel yourself at any time before dispatch for a full refund.
To cancel: Deposit customers must use their Order Status page. Paid-in-full customers can use their Order Status page or the chatbot. There is no need to contact us.
If you would rather wait until the rug is available before ordering, use the “Notify Me” option where offered.
SUPPORT Need Help with Your Pre-Order?
For the latest estimated arrival date, check the relevant product page. Dates are updated hourly.
You do not need to contact us to cancel a pre-order. Deposit customers should use the Order Status button in their order confirmation email. Paid-in-full customers can use that page or the chatbot.
For price adjustments, alternative rugs or other matters requiring personal assistance, please submit a support request through our chatbot.
Our support team aims to respond within 3 business hours, Monday–Friday. Some enquiries may take longer to resolve if supplier information is required.

We want our returns process, responsibilities and potential return costs to be completely clear before you place an order. You have 14 days from receipt to notify us that you wish to return an item, followed by a further 14 days to send it back. Return information and access to our Returns Portal can be found in your order confirmation and subsequent emails, on every product page, our Returns Portal page, the Returns section of our chatbot, and in the website footer.
Delivery from Rug Love is free, but returns for unwanted or unsuitable items are customer-arranged and customer-paid. This includes returns because of size, colour, design, texture, personal preference or a change of mind.
No need to contact us first — all returns and claims, including unwanted or unsuitable returns, exchanges, manufacturing defects, courier damage and incorrect items, should be submitted directly through our self-service Returns Portal.

14-Day Return Window
+
14-Day Return Window
For an unwanted or unsuitable return, you must notify us of your decision to return the item within 14 days of the date you receive it. Our designated and clearest return process is to submit the return through our self-service Returns Portal, after which you have a further 14 days to send the item back. If you are exercising a statutory cancellation right, nothing in this guide prevents you from giving us a clear statement of cancellation by another legally valid method within the applicable period; however, you should still register the return through the portal where possible so we can identify and process it correctly.
It is based on the date the order is delivered to you, not the date it was ordered or dispatched. If the original delivery was delayed in transit, this does not reduce your 14-day return period — the period begins when you actually receive the goods.
Once that return period has expired, we do not grant discretionary extensions or reopen the unwanted/unsuitable return route, regardless of the reason given or whether an exchange is proposed. This policy is applied consistently because extending the period creates uncertainty over use, handling and condition after the normal return window. Please therefore submit your return through the Returns Portal within the required period. This does not affect separate statutory rights relating to faulty, incorrectly supplied or non-conforming goods.
We strongly recommend opening and inspecting your rug as soon as it arrives, even if you do not intend to use it immediately. The 14-day notification period starts when you receive the item; it does not start when you choose to open, inspect or use it. Leaving a rug packaged because it is intended for a future room, move, renovation or occasion does not extend the unwanted/unsuitable return period.
If you discover damage, an incorrect item or another potential issue, please notify us promptly and provide the requested photographs and information so the matter can be investigated while the relevant evidence and packaging are still available.
Once an unwanted or unsuitable return has been correctly submitted within the required period and then sent back within the applicable return period, a delay by the return courier while the parcel is already in transit will not by itself invalidate the return.

How to Start a Return
+
How to Start a Return
All returns and claims should first be submitted through our self-service Returns Portal.
There are two practical return routes:
- Customer-arranged returns — for unwanted or unsuitable items, change of mind and exchanges. The customer arranges, books, manages and pays for the return courier.
- Approved claim returns — where a manufacturing defect, courier-damage or incorrect-item claim is accepted and a return is required, Rug Love or the relevant supplier/manufacturer will provide the appropriate return or collection instructions.
Manufacturing defects, courier damage and incorrect items are claim reasons; they are not alternative methods for arranging an ordinary unwanted or unsuitable return.
- Unwanted or unsuitable returns and exchanges can be submitted directly without contacting us for prior authorisation.
- Manufacturing defects, courier damage and incorrect items should also be reported through the same portal.
- Images and additional information should be provided for manufacturing defect, courier-damage and incorrect-item claims where requested.
- For an incorrect item, please provide a clear photograph of the rug and its product label/barcode so the item can be identified.
- For an ordinary unwanted or unsuitable return, there is no need to upload images or additional notes where these fields are not relevant.
- Once submitted, the relevant return instructions are sent by email. Please read the return-instructions email fully and check your spam/junk folder if you do not see it.

Unwanted or Unsuitable Returns - Customer Arranged
+
Unwanted or Unsuitable Returns - Customer Arranged
Delivery from Rug Love is free, but we do not offer free returns for unwanted or unsuitable items.
For a customer-arranged return, the customer is responsible for arranging, booking, paying for, packaging, labelling and managing their own return until it has been safely delivered back to Rug Love.
Customer-arranged returns include:
- Change-of-mind purchases.
- Incorrect sizes ordered.
- Items that are too large or too small for the intended space.
- Items that are unsuitable for your room or requirements.
- Colours, shades, designs or textures that are unsuitable for your décor or personal preference.
- Exchanges for a different size or rug.
- Other ordinary unwanted or unsuitable-item returns.
For a customer-arranged return, the customer is responsible for:
- Selecting a courier suitable for the actual packaged size and weight.
- Booking and paying for the return directly with the chosen courier or booking service.
- Entering the correct packaged dimensions and weight.
- Obtaining, printing and securely attaching any required shipping label.
- Packaging the rug appropriately for transit.
- Arranging and being available for collection or completing the required drop-off.
- Retaining proof of collection/drop-off and tracking the return until delivery.
- Managing any failed collection, delay, loss, damage, surcharge or courier claim relating to their booking.
Rug Love is an online-only retailer, so returns cannot be handed in personally and must be returned by courier.

Return Costs, Dimensions & Courier Booking – Updated 11 October 2026
The estimated return costs below were last checked and updated on 11 October 2026. They are indicative and may change with courier rates, parcel measurements, collection postcode and seasonal surcharges.
The costs below are based on the courier services and comparable rates Rug Love itself uses and pays when transporting rugs. They are provided so you can see a realistic indication of potential return costs before purchasing.
Common rug sizes and return-cost examples: These tables cover typical parcels rather than every rug we sell. The estimated price depends on the actual packaged dimensions and weight.
Standard Rug Return Costs
| Typical Parcel / Rug | Estimate | Service |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 120cm in length | £6.42 | Evri via Packlink |
| Up to 125cm in length | £12.58 | UPS via Packlink |
| Typical 160 × 230cm rug | £14.14 | UPS via Packlink |
| Typical 200 × 290cm rug | £15.58 | UPS via Packlink |
| Typical 240 × 340cm rug | £45.10 | UPS via Packlink |
Oversized Rug Return Costs
| Oversized Parcel / Rug | Estimate | Service |
|---|---|---|
| 300cm+ long rugs (where accepted) | £53 | Proovia via Interparcel |
Super Plush & Heavy Rug Return Costs
| Super Plush / Heavy Rug | Estimate | Service |
|---|---|---|
| 120 × 170cm | £14.14 | UPS via Packlink |
| 160 × 230cm | £22.78 | UPS via Packlink |
| 200 × 290cm / 200 × 300cm | £52.00 | Proovia via Interparcel |
Courier pricing is heavily influenced by parcel dimensions and volumetric size, not simply the weight or value of the item. Length is particularly important with rugs. A typical 200 × 290cm rug forms a parcel approximately 205cm long when packaged — around 6ft 9in. This places many rugs outside ordinary small-parcel services, which is why returning a large rug can cost considerably more than returning clothing or another small parcel.
The couriers and booking websites shown in this guide are recommendations based on our experience of sending rugs and the services we have found generally provide some of the most competitive prices for parcels of these sizes. You are free to use any courier or booking website you prefer.
For example, you can use another courier comparison website or book directly with a courier instead of Packlink or Interparcel. You are not required to use any company recommended by Rug Love.
Rug Love cannot be held responsible for a higher return cost where a customer chooses a different or more expensive courier, booking website or service from those recommended in this guide. Any alternative service must also accept the actual packaged dimensions and weight of your rug.
The estimated return costs published by Rug Love are based on prices available when checked and are representative for most of the year. Courier prices can change, and many carriers introduce seasonal peak increases or surcharges during particularly busy periods such as Black Friday and Christmas, so prices may temporarily be higher than the guidance shown.
Our estimates cover the majority of UK returns and locations. Large returns from some Scottish Highlands and other remote locations may cost more because of courier location surcharges or reduced availability of suitable oversized services.
- Return costs are determined primarily by the finished parcel dimensions and weight, not the purchase price of the rug.
- Couriers commonly use volumetric pricing, meaning the amount of space a parcel occupies within their network can be as important as its physical weight.
- A £70 rug and a £700 rug with the same packaged dimensions and weight can therefore cost a similar amount to return.
- Length is particularly important. A 200 × 290cm rug will typically form a parcel approximately 205cm long once rolled and packaged — around 6ft 9in.
- Return costs are per rug, not per order.
- Large budget-priced, sale, Outlet or heavily discounted rugs can therefore have a return cost that appears high relative to the purchase price.
- Remote and Highlands postcodes, unusual dimensions, exceptional weights and seasonal courier charges may result in a higher price.
In our experience, a substantially higher quote is usually caused by incorrect parcel dimensions or weight being entered, or a different courier, service or booking website being used from the one shown in our guidance. Check that you are entering the length of the finished rolled and wrapped parcel, not the rug's advertised longer dimension (for example, a 240 × 340cm rug typically forms a parcel around 245cm long, not 340cm). Before paying, check the finished packaged dimensions and weight and that the booking service is suitable for your rug size. If a service does not accept your parcel, check the oversized options rather than selecting an unsuitable service.
Please do not guess or pay for a booking first. Submit a Support Request before booking and we will be happy to help you check the appropriate service and likely parcel details for your rug.

Rug Package Size & Weight Estimates
The examples below can help when obtaining an initial courier quote. They are estimates only; your own fully packaged dimensions take priority.
| Rug Size | Packaged Length | Width | Height | Estimated Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 60 × 230cm Runner | 70cm | 20cm | 20cm | 7kg |
| 80 × 150cm | 90cm | 20cm | 20cm | 7kg |
| 120 × 170cm | 120–125cm | 20cm | 20cm | 9kg |
| 160 × 230cm | 170cm | 23cm | 23cm | 15kg |
| 200 × 290cm | 205cm | 23cm | 23cm | 20kg |
| 240 × 340cm | 245cm | 25cm | 25cm | 25kg |
How to Measure Your Rug for a Return
Courier prices are calculated using the actual packaged dimensions and weight, rather than simply the advertised rug size.
Length can have a particularly large effect on price. Couriers commonly use volumetric pricing, so a long rolled rug occupies considerably more space within a courier network than an ordinary clothing parcel or small box.
- Rugs are normally rolled tightly along their shorter side, unless the rug was originally supplied folded.
- Fully roll and package the rug before taking your final measurements.
- Measure length, width and height at the widest points.
- Enter the actual packaged weight where available.
- Very thick, plush or shaggy rugs may be substantially bulkier and heavier than a typical rug of the same advertised size.
Super Plush & Heavy Shaggy Rug Exceptions
The vast majority of rugs fit within the examples above. Some super-plush shaggy rugs are considerably heavier and bulkier. The factory-sealed dimensions below are a guide only.
Asiatic Plush & Montana Shaggy
| Rug Size | Packaged Length | Width | Height | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 70 × 140cm | 80cm | 22cm | 22cm | 8kg |
| 120 × 170cm | 130cm | 26cm | 26cm | 15kg |
| 140 × 200cm | 150cm | 28cm | 28cm | 21kg |
| 160 × 230cm | 170cm | 32cm | 32cm | 27kg |
| 200 × 300cm | 210cm | 41cm | 41cm | 44kg |
Barnaby Shaggy
| Rug Size | Packaged Length | Width | Height | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 120 × 170cm | 130cm | 26cm | 26cm | 15kg |
| 160 × 230cm | 170cm | 32cm | 32cm | 27kg |
| 200 × 290cm | 210cm | 41cm | 41cm | 40kg |
For many Plush, Barnaby and Montana shaggy rugs, UPS via Packlink may be suitable at the heavy-rug estimated rates above, provided the finished parcel falls within the selected service's limits. The largest 200 × 290/300cm rugs typically package to approximately 210 × 41 × 41cm and weigh around 40–44kg. For these exceptionally bulky parcels, Proovia via Interparcel is approximately £52, where available. Always check that the service accepts your actual packaged dimensions and weight; prices and availability vary.
Recommended Courier & Booking Services
The services below are recommendations only. Based on our experience of sending rugs, they generally provide some of the most competitive prices we have found for parcels of these sizes. You are free to use any suitable courier, comparison website or booking service you prefer.
- Up to 120cm: Evri via Packlink.
- Up to 125cm: UPS via Packlink.
- Large standard rugs above 125cm (e.g. 160 × 230cm): UPS via Packlink, subject to the packaged dimensions and weight.
- Typical 200 × 290cm rugs: UPS via Packlink.
- Typical 240 × 340cm rugs: UPS via Packlink (indicative £45.10).
- Longer oversized rugs, particularly 300cm+: Proovia via Interparcel (indicative £53), where accepted.
- Exceptionally bulky 200 × 290/300cm shaggy rugs: Proovia via Interparcel (indicative £52), where accepted.
You do not have to use the websites or couriers above. You are welcome to use an alternative comparison website or courier instead of Packlink or Interparcel. The important point is that the service selected accepts the actual dimensions and weight of your finished parcel.
Rug Love cannot be held responsible for the price charged where a customer chooses a different courier, booking website or more expensive service from those recommended. Our recommendations are provided to help you find a competitive price; the final choice of courier and service remains yours.
Some services may offer drop-off for smaller parcels. Larger-rug services will usually require a collection and may require a printed courier label.
No printer? If your chosen large-rug courier provides a label PDF that must be printed, email the PDF to us and we can print it and post it to you.
When booking, check the packaging type and service requirements shown by your chosen courier. A securely wrapped rolled rug does not necessarily need a cardboard box, provided the selected service accepts the packaging.

Why We Show Return Costs Before You Buy
+
Why We Show Return Costs Before You Buy
Rugs are considerably larger and bulkier than ordinary parcels such as clothing, so courier return costs can be higher, particularly for large or heavy rugs.
Rather than only providing this information after an order has been placed, we deliberately publish and repeat realistic return-cost guidance before and after purchase so customers can consider the potential cost before ordering a large rug.
- Return information and estimated costs are shown on product pages.
- Return information is repeated in order communications and emails.
- Return-cost guidance is available through our chatbot and support content.
- Detailed instructions are provided through our self-service Returns Portal.
- Our dedicated Return Costs & Returns Guide provides fuller courier, packaging and size guidance.
- Our Refund Policy provides the comprehensive policy governing returns and refunds.
We strongly recommend measuring your space before ordering and reviewing the estimated return cost in advance, particularly when purchasing a larger rug.
A large budget-priced, outlet, sale or heavily discounted rug can still be a large courier parcel, so its return cost can sometimes appear high relative to the purchase price. Courier pricing is based primarily on the parcel, not the retail value of the rug.
C
Colour, Design & Product Appearance
+
Colour, Design & Product Appearance
We provide detailed product descriptions, specifications and colour breakdowns wherever possible to help you understand a rug's appearance before purchasing.
- Official product images and basic colour classifications are supplied by the manufacturer and are generally the same core manufacturer imagery used by UK retailers selling the same rug.
- Rug Love goes beyond basic manufacturer colour labels such as Beige, Grey or Blue by providing detailed shade, tone and accent-colour breakdowns for most rugs, together with additional real-life photographs where available.
- Colour perception is subjective. Shades such as Duck Egg, Teal, Greige and Taupe can be interpreted differently depending on the individual, lighting, surrounding décor and screen settings.
- Pile shading & shimmer: On cut-pile and lustrous rugs, pile direction, lighting and viewing angle can make the same rug appear lighter, darker or more reflective from different directions. This visual effect does not by itself indicate a colour fault.
- Minor variations between production or dye batches may also occur.
- If exact colour matching to furniture, flooring, paintwork or other décor is essential, please consider the limitations of purchasing a textile product online and consider viewing a suitable rug in person before purchase.
If you believe a different item has been supplied or there is a manufacturing issue, submit the appropriate claim through the self-service Returns Portal with photographs and an explanation of the specific issue.
Nothing in this section removes or restricts any statutory rights where goods materially differ from their contractual description or otherwise fail to meet applicable legal requirements.

Manufacturing Defect, Courier Damage or Incorrect Item
Manufacturing Defects, Faulty Items & Claims
We want any genuine product issue to be resolved fairly and as quickly as possible. Return information and access to our Returns Portal can be found in your order confirmation and subsequent emails, on every product page, our Returns Portal page, the Returns section of our chatbot, and in the website footer.
This guide explains how to report a suspected manufacturing defect, how claims are assessed, the difference between a manufacturing issue and normal rug characteristics, and how concerns that an item is not as described are handled.
Minor Imperfections, Manufacturing Tolerances & Aesthetic Variations
Rugs are textile products manufactured using a variety of fibres, yarns, weaving techniques, machinery and finishing processes. Unlike precision-engineered products, rugs are not necessarily identical in every individual thread, tuft, stitch, weave or finishing detail.
Minor imperfections, small inconsistencies and natural manufacturing variations are a normal and widely recognised characteristic of textile products. Even correctly manufactured, brand-new rugs can contain occasional irregularities.
If every individual yarn, tuft, stitch and finishing detail were examined closely enough, it would be possible to identify small variations or imperfections in almost any rug. An occasional slightly longer yarn, uneven tuft, loose fibre or minor finishing irregularity does not automatically indicate that a rug is faulty or incorrectly manufactured.
Minor imperfections that are within the acceptable industry standards for the product are not ordinarily considered manufacturing defects. What is acceptable depends on the particular rug, its materials, construction, description, price and the quality a reasonable customer would expect.
Rug Love aims to go beyond basic manufacturer information by highlighting known material, construction, appearance and care characteristics directly in relevant product descriptions before customers order. Where applicable, this includes guidance on wool shedding, pile direction and shading, viscose sensitivity, natural variations, fringe characteristics and other product-specific considerations.
We encourage customers to read the full product description, specifications, care information and any product-specific notices before purchasing. This information helps set realistic expectations, but it does not excuse an undisclosed or genuine fault or override statutory consumer rights.
Rugs are textile products, and minor variations in individual fibres, yarns, tufts, stitching and finishing details will occur as part of the manufacturing process. Even a brand-new, correctly manufactured rug will have some degree of variation when examined closely enough. An occasional uneven tuft, slightly longer yarn, loose fibre or small finishing inconsistency does not, by itself, mean the rug is faulty.
Hand-woven and other handmade rugs will have natural variations and small imperfections in their weave, dimensions, pattern placement, texture or finish. These are characteristics of handmade production, although a significant or abnormal issue can still be a genuine defect.
An isolated minor cosmetic imperfection does not automatically justify a refund, replacement or discount allowance. Customers are welcome to report suspected faults, and we will refer appropriate claims to the relevant manufacturer for assessment. However, minor finishing irregularities within the reasonable manufacturing tolerances and quality expected of the particular rug will not ordinarily qualify for a defect remedy. The visibility, extent and effect on appearance, construction and use will be considered individually.
The quality reasonably expected of a rug depends on its price, materials, construction, manufacturing method, description and intended use. A lower-priced, entry-level rug should not necessarily be expected to have the same materials, finishing precision or construction quality as a significantly more expensive premium rug. Handmade construction also naturally produces variations that may not occur in the same way in machine-manufactured products.
Every rug must still meet the applicable standard of satisfactory quality. Price does not excuse a genuine fault, but it is relevant when considering whether a particular characteristic falls below the quality reasonably expected of that product.
Examples of Normal Rug Characteristics vs Potential Manufacturing Defects
The examples below explain how common observations are generally considered. They are guidance rather than automatic decisions, and the nature, extent and impact of an issue will always be relevant.
| Customer Complaint or Observation | How It Is Generally Assessed |
|---|---|
| One slightly longer yarn or tuft | Usually a normal finishing variation, not automatically a defect. |
| Occasional loose or protruding yarn ends | May be a normal manufacturing characteristic, provided there is no structural damage or ongoing unravelment. |
| Minor irregularity in a handmade weave | Generally a normal characteristic of handmade construction. |
| Slightly uneven stitching or binding | May fall within normal manufacturing tolerances, depending on its extent and effect on the rug. |
| Small shade differences within a natural-fibre rug | Often a normal characteristic, depending on the material and product description. |
| Different shades when viewed from opposite directions | Commonly caused by pile direction and light reflection rather than a manufacturing fault. |
| Slight differences in pattern alignment or dimensions | May fall within normal manufacturing tolerances, particularly for handmade rugs. |
| Wool fibres shedding when new | Generally a normal characteristic of wool rugs, although excessive or abnormal shedding may require assessment. |
| Minor variations in fringe length or alignment | May be a normal finishing variation, depending on the construction and extent of the irregularity. |
| Multiple missing tufts along a prominent fringe | Requires assessment; could indicate a genuine finishing defect. |
| Significant unravelled edging or binding | Potential manufacturing fault requiring investigation. |
| Holes, substantial missing pile or damaged sections | Potential manufacturing defect or damage requiring investigation. |
| Corners curling or creases immediately after unpacking | Often temporary following rolled storage and transport. Allow up to seven days for the rug to settle. |
| Customer cuts, trims or alters the rug and causes damage | Damage resulting from customer alterations is generally not a manufacturing defect. |
| Damage caused by incorrect cleaning or care | Generally not a manufacturing defect where the damage results from improper treatment. |
| Binding or edging becomes worn, frayed or damaged after vacuuming | Vacuum beater bars, rotating brushes, suction, repeated contact or catching an edge can damage binding. The cause and condition must be assessed; not all binding damage is automatically vacuum-related. |
| How many years should a rug last? | There is no universal lifespan. Durability depends on construction, fibre, traffic, placement, maintenance, cleaning, pets and other conditions. Premature failure may still require assessment. |
| Shaggy or high-pile rug becomes flatter or matted over time | Pile compression, flattening, tangling and matting can develop with normal use, especially in walkways and under furniture. The degree and timing matter when assessing whether wear is reasonable. |
| Fringes become uneven, tangled or worn during use | Fringes are exposed finishing details and may move, tangle or wear through use, vacuuming and foot traffic. Substantial premature loss or unravelment should be assessed. |
| Rug colour fades or changes in direct sunlight | UV exposure and prolonged sunlight can cause fading or colour changes. Position, exposure and fibre type matter; unexpected or unusually rapid deterioration should be reviewed. |
| Viscose rug shows shading, flattened pile, marks or changes after cleaning | Viscose is a delicate fibre, often sensitive to moisture, friction and aggressive cleaning. Directional shading and pile movement may be characteristic; other changes require assessment in context. |
| New rug has an odour when first unpacked | A temporary smell can arise from fibres, backing, manufacturing and sealed packaging. Air naturally in a ventilated room; unusually strong or persistent odours should be reported for assessment. |
| Furniture leaves dents or flattened patches | Pressure from furniture and regular foot traffic can compress pile. Some indentation may be temporary; severity and construction are relevant. |
| A tuft rises above the surrounding pile (pile sprouting) | An occasional sprouting yarn can be a finishing characteristic, but repeated sprouting, pulling or loss of structural integrity may indicate a problem. Do not pull out the yarn. |
| Pet claws, scratching, chewing or accidents affect the rug | Damage caused by pets is not ordinarily an original manufacturing defect; any separate underlying fault will still be assessed. |
How Minor Imperfections Are Assessed
Finding a visible irregularity does not, by itself, establish that a product is faulty. The assessment considers the nature, extent and location of the issue, the rug's materials and manufacturing method, whether it affects the rug's appearance or structural integrity, and whether it is consistent with the standard reasonably expected of that particular product.
There is an important distinction between an occasional minor finishing irregularity and a significant defect affecting the rug's appearance, quality, durability or suitability for its intended purpose.
Where an imperfection is consistent with the normal characteristics and acceptable industry standards for the product, it will not ordinarily be treated as a manufacturing defect. However, the presence of an industry tolerance does not override applicable consumer law or automatically determine the outcome of a claim.
Rug Lifespan, Wear & Maintenance
There is no fixed or guaranteed lifespan applicable to every rug. A rug's service life depends on many factors, including fibre type, construction, frequency of use, foot traffic, pets, furniture, sunlight, room location, moisture, cleaning methods and routine maintenance. A rug in a busy hallway may wear differently from the same rug in a lightly used bedroom.
Flattening, pile compression, shading, fringe wear and gradual changes in appearance can occur through ordinary use. However, describing a change as wear does not automatically resolve whether its extent or timing is consistent with satisfactory quality. A claim of unusually early deterioration will be assessed in the circumstances.
Care matters: follow the care instructions for the particular rug. Avoid catching edges or fringes with vacuum attachments or rotating brush bars, and do not assume that a cleaning method suitable for one fibre is suitable for another. Delicate viscose, shaggy and high-pile rugs may require particular care.
Customers who believe their rug has a genuine manufacturing defect should submit a claim through our Returns Portal, providing clear photographs and a description of the issue.
Where appropriate, Rug Love will refer the information to the relevant manufacturer for a product-specific assessment. The manufacturer may confirm whether the reported characteristic is consistent with the product's construction, finishing methods and normal manufacturing tolerances.
Submitting a claim does not automatically establish that a manufacturing defect exists. Each claim is considered on its individual merits, and additional information or inspection may be required.
Misuse, Damage & Unauthorised Alterations
Damage arising from misuse, negligence, accidental damage, inappropriate cleaning, failure to follow applicable care instructions, excessive wear or unauthorised cutting, trimming, alterations or repairs is not, by itself, evidence of an original manufacturing defect.
Where a rug has been altered or damaged, any claim will be assessed to establish whether the reported issue resulted from that action or from an underlying product fault.
These examples explain normal textile characteristics and how potential defects are assessed. They do not exclude or restrict your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
A genuine manufacturing fault or product that does not meet the legally required standard of satisfactory quality will be considered in accordance with applicable consumer law. Rug Love remains responsible for its obligations as the retailer, regardless of any manufacturer's assessment.
All Returns & Claims Start Through Our Returns Portal
No need to contact us first where the Returns Portal is available for your order.
All returns and claims should normally be submitted through our self-service Returns Portal.
- Unwanted or unsuitable returns
- Exchanges
- Manufacturing defect claims
- Courier damage
- Incorrectly supplied items
- Not As Described / Non-Conformity concerns
📸 Please provide clear photographs, details of the issue and any other requested information wherever possible. This helps us, and where appropriate the manufacturer, assess the issue efficiently.
The 14-day unwanted or unsuitable return period is not a deadline for reporting a genuine manufacturing fault. If you are unable to submit a manufacturing defect claim through the Returns Portal because of the time that has elapsed since delivery, please email us or submit a Support Request through our chatbot.
Please provide your Rug Love order number, a clear description of the problem and clear photographs showing the issue. We require suitable photographs to submit a manufacturing defect claim to the relevant manufacturer for assessment. If the issue cannot be shown adequately in photographs, please explain this when contacting us so we can advise on the appropriate next step.
All appropriate manufacturing defect claims are referred to the relevant manufacturer for assessment. Photographs provide the manufacturer with the evidence needed to identify the product, understand the reported issue and assess whether it may relate to manufacture. We cannot submit a manufacturer defect claim for assessment without suitable supporting images.
How a Manufacturing Defect Claim Works
1. Submit Your Claim
- Submit the claim through our Returns Portal where available.
- Select the appropriate manufacturing defect/fault reason.
- Explain the specific issue you believe is present.
- Upload clear photographs and supporting information.
- If the portal is no longer available because of the time elapsed since delivery, email us or submit a Support Request through our chatbot with your order number, description of the issue and clear photographs.
- When submitting your claim, please specify your preferred outcome: a replacement, refund or discount allowance (price reduction). We will consider your preference, but the appropriate resolution will depend on the circumstances of the claim and your applicable statutory rights.
2. Claim Review & Manufacturer Assessment
- Rug Love will review the information submitted.
- All appropriate manufacturing defect claims are referred to the relevant manufacturer for assessment using the photographs, information and supporting evidence provided.
- The manufacturer may provide technical or product-specific information as part of the assessment.
- Further photographs or information may sometimes be required. If the manufacturer cannot determine the nature or cause of the reported issue from the photographs and evidence provided, they may request that the rug is collected for physical inspection before an outcome can be confirmed. A collection for inspection does not itself mean the claim has been accepted or rejected.
- If a collection is needed for inspection, or a return is required following the assessment, Rug Love will explain the next steps and arrange the appropriate collection where applicable.
3. Manufacturer-Arranged Collections & Inspection
Collection may be necessary before a decision can be made. If photographs are insufficient for the manufacturer to assess a suspected fault, the manufacturer may ask for the rug to be collected for inspection. Where a collection is required, Rug Love will provide the arrangements and instructions.
- Monday to Friday only: Manufacturer-arranged courier collections take place on working days. Weekend collections are not available.
- All-day appointment: Please arrange for someone to be present to hand the rug to the courier. Although a courier may provide an estimated time slot, we cannot guarantee that a time slot will be available or that the driver will arrive within it.
- Failed or delayed collections: Collections can occasionally fail or be delayed due to courier issues outside Rug Love's control. In these circumstances, the courier will normally reattempt collection automatically on the following working day. We can help investigate if a reattempt does not take place.
- Online-only retailer: Rug Love does not have a showroom or customer drop-off point. Where a physical return or inspection is required, this must be handled through a courier collection rather than an in-person return.
We appreciate that waiting at home for a collection can be inconvenient. Genuine defects are uncommon, but they can occur with textile products. Please bear in mind when ordering that, unlike a bricks-and-mortar shop where an item may be returned in person, resolving an issue requiring physical inspection or return through Rug Love may involve an attended weekday courier collection. We will work with you to arrange a practical resolution in line with your statutory rights.
4. Outcome
- Once the relevant evidence has been reviewed, we will contact you with the outcome and appropriate next step.
- Depending on the circumstances and applicable rights, this may include repair where appropriate, replacement, refund, price reduction or another agreed resolution.
Courier Damage – What to Photograph & Report
Our first recommendation is to refuse delivery if the rug or its packaging is visibly damaged when the courier arrives. Please ask the driver to mark the consignment Return to Sender and, if practical, take photographs before it leaves.
Rug Love supplies brand-new, factory-packed rugs. Packaging that arrives torn, ripped, punctured, wet, open, heavily soiled or crushed is a strong indication of possible damage during courier handling or transit. Damage to the packaging does not necessarily mean the rug itself is damaged, but it should be treated seriously and reported promptly.
You can still report suspected courier damage. Acceptance or a signature does not, by itself, remove your statutory rights. Please inspect the rug promptly, including its backing and edges, and submit the Courier Damage reason through our Returns Portal.
Helpful photographs include:
- The complete rug and clear close-ups of any damage, including the backing where relevant.
- The outer packaging, showing any rips, holes, punctures, tears, crushed ends, moisture or soiling.
- The courier label and the rug's product label or barcode, where available.
Please keep the original packaging where possible until the claim has been reviewed. Prompt reporting and photographs help us investigate what happened with the courier and arrange the appropriate resolution. Courier damage is separate from a manufacturing defect, and your statutory rights remain unaffected.
Inspecting & Reporting an Issue
We strongly ask that you inspect your rug carefully as soon as it arrives, including the surface, pile, edges, fringes, stitching and underside/backing, and report any apparent damage, irregularity or suspected fault to us straight away.
Please inspect the rug on arrival even if you do not intend to use it immediately because you are renovating, moving house, decorating or storing it for later. Delaying inspection can make it more difficult to establish when or how an issue arose.
If you notice something that may be a manufacturing defect but believe it might settle or improve with time, please still report the concern when you first notice it, even if you would prefer to monitor it before requesting a resolution. This allows us to record the concern and, where appropriate, notify the manufacturer early, making any subsequent investigation easier.
Please notify us as soon as you notice a suspected issue, even if you intend to monitor it. The longer a rug remains in use before a concern is reported, the harder it can become to determine whether the condition was present when supplied or developed afterwards through foot traffic, furniture, vacuuming, cleaning, pets, accidental damage or environmental conditions.
Early notification allows us to record the date, photographs and circumstances and, where appropriate, notify the manufacturer. This can make a later claim easier to investigate if the condition changes or worsens.
The first six months after delivery are particularly relevant to the evidence used when assessing a suspected inherent fault. For qualifying faults appearing within this period, consumer law generally presumes the fault was present at delivery unless established otherwise, subject to statutory exceptions. After six months, customers may need to provide evidence that an issue resulted from an underlying fault present at delivery rather than subsequent use or damage.
Six months is not a deadline for reporting a genuine manufacturing fault. Please report concerns promptly whenever they arise; statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Return Costs & Different Claim Types
There are two different return routes:
For unwanted or unsuitable items, including change of mind, incorrect size ordered, unsuitable colour or design, or a rug that is otherwise not suitable for your requirements.
Where a manufacturing defect claim is accepted and a return is required.
Manufacturing defect claims are not automatically approved. All appropriate defect claims submitted through our Returns Portal, or submitted directly to us where the portal is no longer available because of the time elapsed, are referred to the relevant manufacturer for assessment using the photographs, information and supporting evidence provided. Submission of a defect claim does not mean that a manufacturing defect has been established or accepted.
If you simply decide that a correctly supplied rug is unwanted or unsuitable, the customer-arranged return process applies.
Refund Processing
Where the appropriate resolution involves a refund following the return of the rug, once the returned item has been received back we aim to inspect and process the refund within 48 hours.
- You will receive a notification confirming that your return has been received.
- Once the refund has been processed, you will receive a separate refund confirmation email.
- Your refund confirmation email is confirmation that Rug Love has completed the refund from our side.
- Most banks and payment providers then take approximately 3–5 working days to display the funds.
- PayPal e-cheque refunds can take up to approximately 14 days.

Your statutory rights are not affected by the information above.
Normal Rug Characteristics vs Manufacturing Defects
Not every variation or change in a rug indicates a manufacturing defect. Rugs are textile products, and their construction, materials, pile and manufacturing method can result in normal characteristics that vary between rug types.
This is particularly relevant to hand-woven, hand-tufted, hand-knotted and other handmade rugs, where small differences between individual rugs are a natural consequence of the manufacturing process.
Examples that can be normal depending on the rug and extent of the issue include:
- Wool rugs: Natural shedding, particularly when new.
- Sheepskin rugs: Natural fibre, texture, colour and appearance variations and shedding.
- Shaggy and high-pile rugs: Pile movement, compression, flattening and some shedding.
- Handmade rugs: Natural variations in weave, dimensions, pattern placement, texture and finish.
- Handmade and natural-fibre rugs: Abrash, tonal differences and natural colour variation.
- Handmade rugs: Mixed yarns, slight weaving inconsistencies or occasional loose/sprouting fibres.
- Different production or dye batches: Small shade or tonal differences can occur between two rugs of the same design and colour.
- Rolled rugs: Temporary creases, curling or pile compression after being tightly rolled for storage and transport.
If you believe what you are experiencing goes beyond the normal characteristics of the rug, please submit a manufacturing defect claim with photographs and an explanation of the specific concern.
New Rug Not Lying Flat? Creases, Curling & Settling
Raised edges, curling corners, ripples and creases are very common when a new rug is first unrolled. Rugs can spend extended periods tightly rolled during manufacture, storage and transport. These temporary effects do not, by themselves, indicate a manufacturing defect.
Why it happens: Many rugs contain latex, adhesives or other backing materials which can become temporarily stiff during storage and transit, particularly in cold conditions. As the rug reaches room temperature, its backing often becomes more flexible and the rolled shape gradually relaxes. Not all rugs have latex backing, and settling times vary with construction and material.
Safe ways to help:
- Unroll completely on a clean, dry, level floor and gently smooth by hand.
- Leave the rug in its intended position in a comfortably heated, dry room for up to 7 days.
- If the rug is flexible and its care instructions permit, briefly and loosely reverse-roll it. Never force or sharply fold a stiff backing.
- A clean, stable, flat weight over a raised corner for 24–48 hours may help, provided it will not mark the pile.
- A suitable non-slip rug underlay may reduce movement or bunching on smooth floors.
If a corner is raised enough to create a trip hazard, keep that area clear until it is safe. If there is no improvement after around 7 days, or there is persistent severe distortion, uneven construction or backing damage, you may submit photographs for review. You do not need to wait 7 days to report a suspected genuine defect. Please use the Returns Portal and include photographs of the full rug, affected areas and backing where relevant.
Pilling, Sprouting & Loose Fibres
Pilling is the formation of small fuzzy balls or tangled fibres on the rug surface, usually caused by friction from walking, furniture, pets or vacuuming. It can occur in both synthetic and natural-fibre rugs. Some pilling is a normal characteristic of use and does not automatically mean the rug is faulty.
Sprouting means an isolated yarn or fibre projects above the surrounding pile. It may arise as yarns settle or during manufacture, particularly in dense, shaggy or hand-finished constructions. Examples can include Montana, Polar, Sierra 9000, Extravagance, Plush and Barnaby.
How to reduce and manage pilling:
- Vacuum gently and regularly, following the rug's care instructions; avoid aggressive rotating beater bars where unsuitable.
- Rotate the rug periodically to distribute foot traffic and wear.
- Use an appropriate rug underlay to help minimise movement and friction.
- If permitted for the rug material, remove light surface pills gently with a suitable fabric-pilling tool, testing an inconspicuous area first. Avoid cutting or pulling structural yarns.
Pilling varies by fibre, yarn, construction and use; no fibre type is completely immune. If pilling, yarn loss or sprouting seems excessive or unusual for the rug's age and use, submit a suspected manufacturing defect claim through the Returns Portal with clear photographs. Normal characteristics do not prevent a genuine concern being assessed.
Pile Flattening, Compression & Matting – Care Advice
Pile fibres naturally bend and compress with foot traffic, furniture pressure and regular use. Long, fluffy and super-plush piles are particularly prone to flattening and matting, including ranges such as Montana, Polar, Sierra 9000, Plush and Barnaby. Replacing a rug will not necessarily prevent the same natural pile behaviour from developing with use.
Shorter, denser pile constructions may be easier to maintain in busy areas, although suitability depends on the individual rug. Pile direction can also change how light reflects and make some areas look flatter or darker.
Ways to care for the pile:
- Use gentle suction vacuuming in accordance with the product's care instructions.
- Rotate the rug regularly and, where practical, vary furniture positions to spread pressure.
- For a suitable rug, gently lift compressed pile with a soft brush or rug rake designed for its construction; test first and never tug at fibres.
- Consider an appropriate underlay to reduce slipping and friction.
Ordinary pile compression and matting are not automatically manufacturing defects. However, unusually rapid or severe deterioration, abnormal fibre loss or another suspected underlying issue can be submitted through the Returns Portal for individual assessment.
Rug Size, Shape & Handmade Variation
Rug sizes are generally stated as nominal dimensions. Small variations in finished length, width and shape can occur during manufacture and do not automatically indicate a manufacturing defect.
This is particularly relevant to hand-woven, hand-tufted, hand-knotted and other handmade rugs. Differences in yarn, weaving tension, stretching, washing, drying and finishing can all influence the final dimensions of an individual rug.
Manufacturer size tolerances can vary depending on the brand, construction and manufacturing method. We therefore do not apply one universal percentage tolerance to every rug sold by Rug Love.
If you believe your rug differs significantly from the advertised nominal dimensions, please provide photographs together with measurements of the rug. Where appropriate, the difference can then be assessed against the relevant product specification and any applicable manufacturer tolerance.
Pile Flattening, Matting & Sprouting
All rugs with a pile can experience some degree of pile movement, compression and flattening during use. This is particularly noticeable on longer-pile and super-plush rugs.
High-pile shaggy rugs such as Montana, Polar, Sierra 9000, Plush and Barnaby can be more susceptible to:
- Pile compression and flattening in areas receiving regular foot traffic.
- Compression beneath furniture.
- Pile movement and changes in appearance depending on direction.
- Occasional sprouting or individual fibres appearing longer than surrounding fibres.
These can be normal characteristics of high-pile construction and do not automatically indicate a manufacturing defect.
If you believe the extent of the flattening, matting, fibre loss or another issue is abnormal for the age and use of the rug, submit a claim through the Returns Portal so the specific circumstances can be assessed.
Rug Binding & Edge Concerns
Binding and edges are areas of a rug that can be affected by both manufacturing issues and events occurring during use.
Common causes of edge or binding damage after use can include:
- Vacuum cleaners catching or repeatedly running over the binding.
- Heavy foot traffic.
- Dragging furniture across the rug.
- Pets scratching, chewing or pulling at the edges.
- Inappropriate cleaning methods, excessive moisture or unsuitable chemicals.
Damage caused through use does not, by itself, establish a manufacturing defect. However, if you believe the binding or edge has failed because of an underlying manufacturing issue, please submit a manufacturing defect claim with clear photographs and an explanation of the circumstances.
Colour, Design & Dye-Batch Variation
The main product images supplied for a rug are manufacturer images and are generally the same core images used by UK retailers selling the same product.
However, no online image can guarantee an exact colour match. The appearance of a rug can be affected by:
- Screen and device display settings.
- Lighting conditions.
- The surrounding décor and colours within a room.
- Pile direction, texture and viewing angle.
- Natural-fibre variation.
- Normal production and dye-batch variation.
- The subjective nature of colour names and shades.
Two rugs of the same design and colour are not guaranteed to be visually identical if they originate from different production or dye batches. Small shade or tonal differences can occur between batches even where the same design, colour name and product specification are used.
This can be particularly noticeable with natural fibres and handmade or hand-woven rugs and does not automatically indicate a manufacturing defect or that the incorrect product has been supplied.
If you are purchasing two or more matching rugs and consistency between them is particularly important, please contact us before ordering so we can check whether any relevant batch information is available. Batch matching cannot always be guaranteed.
Colour dissatisfaction or deciding that a correctly supplied rug does not suit your room does not automatically mean that the rug is defective or not as described.
Damage, Wear & Care After Delivery
A manufacturing defect is different from damage caused to a rug after delivery.
Examples of issues that may arise through use rather than manufacture include:
- 🐾 Pet chewing, scratching or soiling.
- 🧴 Spills and stains.
- 🛠️ Accidental tears, burns, cuts or other accidental damage.
- 🏠 Ordinary wear, furniture compression and traffic-related pile changes.
- 💧 Damage caused by unsuitable cleaning methods, excessive water or inappropriate chemicals.
- 🧹 Damage caused by a vacuum cleaner or other cleaning equipment catching fibres or bindings.
However, if you believe an underlying manufacturing issue is responsible for the problem, submit the claim with photographs and an explanation so the specific circumstances can be assessed.
Not As Described / Non-Conformity Claims
If you believe the rug supplied does not materially match the product description, specification, imagery or other product information provided at the time of purchase, please submit the appropriate claim through our Returns Portal and explain the specific difference you believe exists.
We will review the product supplied, the product information applicable when the order was placed, and the photographs, details and other relevant evidence provided. Where appropriate, information may also be obtained from the manufacturer as part of that assessment.
There is an important distinction between goods that materially do not conform to their description and a product that is correctly supplied but is unsuitable or different from a customer's personal expectation.
For example, deciding that a correctly supplied rug does not suit your room, personal colour preference, décor or intended space does not automatically mean that the product was incorrectly described.
14-Day Unwanted or Unsuitable Returns Are Different
A customer-arranged return because you have changed your mind or the rug is unwanted or unsuitable is different from a claim that goods are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or not as described.
For unwanted or unsuitable items, you have 14 days from delivery to notify us that you wish to return the item and a further 14 days to send it back.
For fastest and clearest processing, our designated return process is the self-service Returns Portal. If you are exercising a statutory cancellation right, nothing in this policy prevents you from giving us a clear statement of cancellation by another legally valid method within the applicable period; however, you should still register the return through the portal where possible so we can identify and process it.
Consumer Rights Act 2015
For consumer purchases covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods supplied by a retailer must meet the applicable legal requirements.
- Satisfactory quality: taking account of the description, price and other relevant circumstances.
- Fit for purpose: including any particular purpose made known to the retailer where the law applies.
- As described: the goods must materially match the description and applicable product information forming part of the contract.
Manufacturer Guarantees vs Your Consumer Rights
A manufacturer's warranty or guarantee and your statutory consumer rights are not the same thing.
Some products or manufacturers may provide a separate manufacturer's warranty or guarantee. The existence, duration and terms of any such guarantee depend on the particular manufacturer and product.
The expiry or absence of a manufacturer's warranty or guarantee does not, by itself, determine whether you have a valid statutory claim against Rug Love as the retailer.
Manufacturer Assessment & Your Statutory Rights
The manufacturer assessment process helps us establish the nature and cause of a reported issue and provides relevant product-specific evidence.
Rug Love remains responsible for dealing with your statutory rights as the retailer from which you purchased the goods.
If goods do not conform to the contract as required by applicable consumer law, any statutory remedies available to you remain unaffected by our manufacturer assessment process.
When a Fault Appears & Evidence Over Time
Consumer law distinguishes between problems arising at different stages after delivery, and the evidence required can change over time.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, where goods do not conform to the contract within the first six months after delivery, the law generally treats the lack of conformity as having existed at delivery unless it is established otherwise or that presumption is incompatible with the nature of the goods or the particular issue.
After six months, a customer may be required to provide evidence that the problem was inherent or existed when the goods were supplied rather than being caused by subsequent use, wear, care or damage.
Each claim must be considered according to the applicable law, the nature and expected durability of the product, its age and use, and the available evidence.
What Happens If Goods Do Not Conform?
The appropriate remedy depends on the circumstances and the statutory rights that apply at the relevant time.
Consumer law provides remedies which can include, where the relevant legal conditions are met:
- The short-term right to reject.
- Repair or replacement.
- A price reduction.
- The final right to reject.
Full Manufacturing Defects & Consumer Rights Guide
For more detailed information about manufacturing defects, manufacturer guarantees, normal rug characteristics, evidence, Consumer Rights Act remedies and later-developing faults, please see our full guide.
Manufacturing defects, courier damage and items incorrectly supplied by Rug Love are handled separately from unwanted or unsuitable customer-arranged returns.
- Submit the appropriate claim through our self-service Returns Portal.
- For a manufacturing defect, provide clear photographs showing the issue together with the relevant details.
- For courier damage, provide clear photographs showing the damage to the rug and packaging where relevant.
- If you have been sent the wrong item, submit an incorrect-item claim and provide clear photographs of the rug and its product label/barcode.
- Sprouting & pilling: Occasional protruding fibres, surface fuzzing or pilling can occur as a rug settles and through normal use and do not necessarily indicate a defect. Do not pull protruding yarns; abnormal or widespread fibre release can be submitted for assessment.
- Binding, edges & stitching: Small variations in binding, whipping, stitching and other edge finishes can occur depending on the rug's construction. Do not pull loose edge yarn or attempt a repair; if an edge appears to be separating or failing abnormally, stop using anything that may worsen it and submit photographs for assessment.
Rug Love submits appropriate manufacturing defect claims to the relevant manufacturer or supplier. The manufacturer may provide product information or assess the evidence supplied. Submission of a claim does not itself mean that a manufacturing defect has been accepted.
Rug Love remains responsible for addressing your statutory rights as the retailer. Manufacturer or supplier involvement forms part of the evidence and operational process and does not remove or restrict any statutory rights you may have.

New Rug Odour & Airing
+
New Rug Odour & Airing
A newly opened rug may have a noticeable odour after being removed from its packaging. Odour can arise from the rug's fibres, backing, manufacturing materials, packaging or from being tightly rolled and sealed for storage and transport. Natural fibres can also have their own characteristic smell; for example, new wool may have an earthy or animal-like odour.
Some rug materials, backings and manufacturing materials can release volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particularly when new, but odour alone does not establish what compounds are present, their concentration or that unsafe VOC levels are present. Heat can also make some existing material or backing odours more noticeable.
A temporary new-product or natural-fibre odour does not, by itself, establish a manufacturing defect. Unpack the rug and allow it to air naturally in a well-ventilated room, following the applicable product and care instructions. Avoid applying sprays, detergents, water or other treatments simply to mask an odour unless they are permitted by the rug's care guidance.
If an odour appears excessive, unusual or persists despite reasonable airing, you can submit the issue through our self-service Returns Portal with details of the smell, how long the rug has been aired and any relevant information about heat, moisture, cleaning or storage so it can be assessed.
UF
Underfloor Heating & Rugs
+
Underfloor Heating & Rugs
Rug Love rugs do not have tested or verified tog ratings and we therefore do not apply a blanket underfloor-heating suitability rating across our ranges. Suitability can depend on the rug's fibre, construction, thickness and backing, together with the flooring beneath it and the particular underfloor-heating system.
Asiatic specifically advises that its rugs should not be used with underfloor heating. If your rug is manufactured by Asiatic, do not place or use it over an underfloor-heating system.
For other brands and rugs, always follow the rug manufacturer's guidance together with the underfloor-heating and flooring manufacturer's requirements, including any maximum thermal-resistance, tog or surface-temperature limits. Where suitability has not been specifically confirmed, it should not be assumed.
Rugs and underlays add an insulating layer over the floor and can reduce heat transfer. Thick, dense, shaggy or highly insulating constructions and some backing materials may have a greater effect. If an underlay is used, its thermal resistance also forms part of the overall floor-covering build-up.
Do not rely on a universal tog figure for a Rug Love rug where that rug has not been independently tog-tested. If you are unsure whether a particular rug can be used with your system, check with the underfloor-heating provider, flooring manufacturer or an appropriate flooring specialist before use.
Damage, deterioration, discolouration, backing degradation, curling or other changes caused by heat exposure or by using a rug contrary to applicable manufacturer or heating-system guidance are different from a manufacturing defect and will be assessed accordingly. Heat can also make some existing rug, backing or adhesive odours more noticeable.

Why Does the Customer Arrange the Return Courier?
+
Why Does the Customer Arrange the Return Courier?
Courier pricing for rugs depends heavily on the actual finished parcel dimensions and weight.
Once a rug has been opened, Rug Love has no control over how tightly the customer rolls it, how it is packaged or the final parcel dimensions. If we booked a return using estimated or standard dimensions and the customer's finished parcel was larger, Rug Love as the booking organiser would receive the courier surcharge.
For this reason, customers arrange their own unwanted or unsuitable return using the actual packaged dimensions and weight of the parcel they are handing to the courier.
Booking a return is fundamentally a matter of entering the parcel's length, width, height and weight, together with the collection address and Rug Love return address. Full step-by-step guidance is provided after submitting your return.

Packaging Your Return
+
Packaging Your Return
- Rugs should be securely rolled and suitably packaged for courier transit.
- Please do not fold the rug unless it was originally supplied folded or you have specifically been instructed to do so.
- For an unwanted or unsuitable return, the item should be returned in a clean, dry and resaleable condition, subject to your statutory rights.
- Protect the rug properly from dirt, moisture and damage during transit.
- Do not use household bin bags, paper, cling film or other weak materials as the sole return packaging.
- Do not place courier tape or labels directly onto the rug, fibres or product label.
- If returning an anti-slip mat with the rug, we recommend rolling it securely inside the rug where practical. It may also be returned separately. Do not tape an underlay or mat around the outside of the rug, as this can increase the finished parcel dimensions and potentially result in a surcharge.
- We recommend photographing the fully packaged rug before handing it to the courier and retaining proof of postage/collection.
- For a customer-arranged return, the customer is responsible for managing the return booking and courier until the parcel has been safely delivered back.

Why We Cannot Provide QR-Code Returns for Most Rugs
+
Why We Cannot Provide QR-Code Returns for Most Rugs
QR-code and label-free return services are convenient for small parcels, but most are designed primarily for items such as clothing and have restrictive parcel-size limits.
Many QR-code/drop-off services accept parcels only up to approximately 120cm in length. Rugs can form parcels approximately 200–500cm long, depending on the rug size and how it is packaged.
Larger rolled rugs therefore fall into a different courier category and generally require a suitable collection service together with a printed shipping label.

Courier Surcharges & How to Avoid Them
+
Courier Surcharges & How to Avoid Them
The return costs we provide are intended as realistic guidance, but courier surcharges are separate and outside Rug Love's control.
Common causes of additional courier charges include:
- Incorrect parcel dimensions entered when booking.
- Incorrect weight entered when booking.
- Choosing a courier service unsuitable for the size of the rug.
- The packaged rug being larger or heavier than declared.
- Typing or measurement errors during the courier booking process.
- Remote-area or Highlands courier charges.
- Seasonal courier surcharges during peak periods such as Black Friday and Christmas.
To reduce the risk of a surcharge:
- Measure the rug after it has been fully packaged.
- Double-check the length, width, height and weight.
- Use a courier suitable for the parcel dimensions.
- Check all information carefully before confirming the booking.
Any surcharge should be disputed directly with the courier or booking provider because the customer is the sender/account holder for that booking. Rug Love can provide guidance, but we cannot control, reverse or administer charges applied to a third-party courier booking made by the customer.

If Your Return Collection Fails
+
If Your Return Collection Fails
If your booked courier fails to collect, is late or does not arrive, please check your booking or tracking portal. Couriers will sometimes arrange another collection attempt automatically, often on the next working day, but this is not guaranteed. You must confirm whether a new attempt has been scheduled and contact your booking provider if further action is needed.
You arranged and paid for the return courier directly and are the sender/account holder. You must contact the booking provider yourself to check collection status, confirm or request another attempt, change a collection date, investigate delays, raise complaints or pursue any loss, damage, misdelivery, surcharge or courier claim. Rug Love cannot take over these enquiries or act on your behalf with the courier.
Contact the company through which you made your booking:
- Packlink: for UPS or Evri bookings, failed collections, rebooking and courier enquiries, contact Packlink using your booking confirmation and tracking details.
- Interparcel: for Proovia bookings, failed collections, rebooking and courier enquiries, contact Interparcel using your booking confirmation and tracking details.
Booking a collection, handing the rug to a driver or receiving a tracking update does not mean that Rug Love has received it. You must retain your tracking information and proof of collection, monitor the return and resolve any problems with the booking provider until delivery to our designated return address. For ordinary unwanted or unsuitable returns, we cannot normally complete a refund if the goods do not reach us. Nothing in this guidance limits any statutory rights, including any entitlement arising under the Consumer Contracts Regulations where legally sufficient evidence of sending the goods back is provided.
Couriers are independent third-party companies, not part of Rug Love's own fleet. We cannot control individual drivers, collection routes or courier actions, and the booking provider may only discuss the service with you as its customer.

To qualify for our Price Match Promise, the following conditions must be met:
- Eligible UK retailer: The competitor must be an eligible UK-based online or physical rug retailer offering the product directly to customers.
- Identical product: The brand, product name, model number, design, material, specification and size must match exactly.
- Brand-new condition: The competing item must be new, not used, graded, refurbished or sold as a damaged or clearance-condition item.
- Verifiable price: The competitor's current selling price must be genuine and capable of being verified.
- Comparable purchasing terms: The product must be offered under comparable conditions, including availability and applicable payment arrangements.
- Stock availability: For in-stock price matches, both retailers must have the identical rug available to purchase at the quoted price.
- Pre-order availability: For pre-order price matches, both retailers must be accepting orders for the identical rug under comparable pre-order terms.
- Current offer: The competitor's advertised offer must be valid when the request is assessed.
Please note: An eligible request is subject to verification and approval. Submission does not automatically guarantee that a Price Match will be accepted.
Price Match Exclusions
The following offers and sellers are excluded from our Price Match Promise:
- Trade-only prices and discounts that are not available to ordinary retail customers.
- Membership-only or closed-group prices and discounts.
- Third-party marketplace sellers, including sellers operating through Amazon, eBay and Etsy.
- Excluded retail platforms, including Costco and Wayfair.
- Retailers that are no longer trading or are not accepting genuine customer orders.
- Used, graded, refurbished, damaged or non-new products.
- Products that are not identical in brand, model, size, design, material or specification.
- Discontinued or unavailable competitor products that cannot genuinely be purchased or pre-ordered at the quoted price.
- Prices that cannot be verified through a valid competitor product listing.
- Incorrect or clearly erroneous competitor prices.
Important: A product appearing on a website does not necessarily mean that it is available to purchase. The competitor must genuinely be accepting orders under the quoted terms.
Competitor Pricing Errors
We do not price match competitor prices that are clearly incorrect or appear to result from a genuine pricing error.
For example:
A medium-sized rug may be advertised at a substantially lower price than a smaller rug in the same range, while the other sizes follow a consistent pricing structure.
An unusual price difference of this kind may indicate that the competitor has listed the item incorrectly.
We may decline a Price Match where the available evidence indicates that the quoted competitor price is erroneous.
Please note: A genuine promotional discount is not automatically treated as a pricing error simply because the price is low.
How Price Match Requests Are Assessed
Our automated system assesses submitted requests against the Price Match eligibility requirements and exclusions.
A request may be approved when the competitor, product, price and purchasing terms meet our Price Match conditions.
All Price Match requests are subject to verification and approval by Rug Love.
We reserve the right to decline a request where the competitor or offer does not meet our terms, the quoted price cannot be verified, or matching the price would result in a loss.
If your request is declined, the competitor's advertised price does not become the agreed selling price for your Rug Love order.
Our approach: We aim to offer the lowest possible price while maintaining the service and support our customers expect.
When Will I Receive a Response?
Our automated Price Match system is designed to provide a response within one hour of submission.
Please check the email address entered in your request, including your spam or junk folder.
Every submitted Price Match request receives a response, including requests involving retailers or offers that do not meet our terms.
If the system cannot recognise the competitor's URL or cannot verify the offer, you will receive a response explaining that the request could not be approved automatically.
An automated acknowledgement or unsuccessful response does not mean that a Price Match has been approved.
Haven't received a response? Please check your spam or junk folder first. If no email has arrived, submit a support request through our chatbot so our team can investigate.
Common Price Match Submission Issues
To help us assess your request accurately, please check the following before submitting:
- Incorrect rug: The competitor's product must be identical in brand, name, model, design, material and specification.
- Incorrect size: Make sure you select the same rug size on both websites.
- Missing or incorrect URL: Provide a direct link to the competitor's actual product listing.
- Incorrect expected price: Enter the final amount you would pay after any applicable discount codes.
- Unavailable product: The competitor must be accepting orders for the rug under the relevant in-stock or pre-order terms.
- Excluded retailer: Requests involving retailers or selling platforms excluded under our terms cannot be approved.
- Unverifiable offer: We must be able to confirm the competitor's advertised price and applicable terms.
If you believe your request has been declined incorrectly, please submit a support request through our chatbot with the relevant product and competitor details.
