Product Description:
Hand-woven in India from 100% pure wool, the Tigra Spice Wool Rug combines a contemporary animal-inspired design with a tactile, sculpted surface. Its cut and loop pile construction creates a subtle high-low carved texture, where the raised cut pile forms the pattern against a ribbed loop background. With an 8mm low-profile pile and a 2kg per m² wool weight, this rug offers natural softness, resilience, and warmth — ideal for both modern and classic interiors. While the Tigra Spice Wool Rug features a deeper carved cut-pile pattern raised above a ribbed loop background for stronger contrast and definition, the Tigra Sand and Tigra Mocha versions reverse this effect, using a looped ribbed pattern over a smoother cut-pile base to create a softer, more understated texture.
The colours and shades present in this rug include:
Spice Orange – Acting as the dominant tone throughout, offering a warm, earthy foundation that creates a rich visual depth.
Burnt Terracotta – Enhancing the raised pattern with deeper, tonal variation, adding texture and movement to the surface.
Copper Brown – Present within the carved pile detailing, providing contrast and subtle definition across the design.
Amber Clay – Gently woven into the looped background, lending a natural undertone that softens the overall appearance.
The Tigra Spice Wool Rug is a beautifully hand-crafted piece featuring a cut and loop high-low pile that brings its animal-inspired pattern to life through texture and tone. The interplay of Spice Orange, Burnt Terracotta, Copper Brown, and Amber Clay creates a harmonious and refined aesthetic, while the 100% wool composition ensures softness and durability. With its 8mm low-profile pile and carved ribbed texture, this rug adds understated luxury to living rooms, bedrooms, or dining areas — perfect for those seeking warmth, sophistication, and natural character in their décor.
🐑 Handmade Wool Rug Characteristics
Our handmade wool rugs are individually crafted, so each one is unique with natural variations known as abrash in colour, size, design, pattern, yarn, stitching, and texture. Shedding is normal and expected with all wool rugs — sometimes lasting for the rug’s entire life — but it does not affect durability. Loose fibres and stray threads can simply be trimmed with scissors (never pulled) to avoid damage. These natural characteristics, along with mixed yarn colours, slight imperfections, and subtle texture differences, add charm and authenticity rather than being faults. Synthetic latex backing may create a temporary smell, and wool may have a natural, earthy scent which fades over time. If you prefer a perfectly uniform look, machine-made synthetic rugs may be more suitable, and any exchange will still have its own unique variations.
