Product Description:
The Tate Silver Rug embodies contemporary refinement through its carefully balanced composition of texture, tone, and light. Expertly handmade in India from a luxurious 60% wool and 40% viscose blend, it features a 10 mm high-density pile with precise hand-carved definition, giving sculpted depth and tactile dimension to every geometric block. The contrast between matte wool softness and lustrous viscose sheen creates a dynamic play of texture that subtly shifts under changing light.
The tonal silver and grey palette introduces serenity and sophistication, with each block uniquely textured — from softly marbled shimmer to velvety matte density. This interplay of surfaces adds movement to an otherwise structured layout, perfectly balancing geometry with subtle organic flow. Ideal for modern, minimalist, or monochrome interiors, this rug provides a calm yet striking foundation that enhances both bright and shadowed spaces.
Silver – The dominant tone, creating a cool and sophisticated foundation.
Light Grey – Present across the wool sections, adding softness and tonal balance.
Mid Grey – Found in carved panels, introducing subtle contrast and shadow.
Pewter – Woven into the viscose areas, producing a soft metallic sheen that reflects light.
Frosted Grey – Lightly dispersed throughout, enhancing luminosity and depth.
The Tate Silver Rug captures the beauty of tonal geometry and reflective texture, blending soft wool structure with viscose lustre for a look of quiet elegance. Its hand-carved surface and layered composition create an architectural yet calming aesthetic, offering timeless sophistication for modern living spaces, neutral bedrooms, and refined open-plan interiors.
Important Note
The Tate collection features a viscose blend that naturally produces a light-reflective sheen. As a result, the rug’s shade will appear lighter or darker depending on the lighting and viewing angle. This rug also displays directional shading — the colour tone changes depending on how the pile is brushed, similar to the natural shading found in traditional carpets.
🐑 Handmade Wool Rug Characteristics
Our handmade wool rugs are individually crafted, so each one is unique with natural variations known as abrash in colour, size, design, pattern, yarn, stitching, and texture. Shedding is normal and expected with all wool rugs — sometimes lasting for the rug’s entire life — but it does not affect durability. Loose fibres and stray threads can simply be trimmed with scissors (never pulled) to avoid damage. These natural characteristics, along with mixed yarn colours, slight imperfections, and subtle texture differences, add charm and authenticity rather than being faults. Synthetic latex backing may create a temporary smell, and wool may have a natural, earthy scent which fades over time. If you prefer a perfectly uniform look, machine-made synthetic rugs may be more suitable, and any exchange will still have its own unique variations.
