Product Description:
The Tate Navy Rug combines rich colour depth with sophisticated geometric artistry, creating a luxurious foundation for modern interiors. Handmade in India from a premium 60% wool and 40% viscose blend, it features a 10mm high-density pile with hand-carved definition that enhances its sculptural form. The design layers matte wool panels with lustrous viscose sections, forming a tonal patchwork that plays beautifully with light and texture.
Each geometric block reveals a subtle contrast between velvety sheen and soft matte fibres, producing a balance of structure and movement. The deep navy and steel blue tones are complemented by marbled, light-reflective sections that bring a hint of contemporary sheen. The result is a rug that feels both architectural and inviting, perfect for grounding living spaces, bedrooms, or modern dining areas with refined elegance.
Navy Blue – The dominant base colour, offering a bold, sophisticated foundation that anchors the design.
Midnight Blue – Deep, velvety tones adding richness and dramatic contrast.
Steel Blue – Subtly layered across sections, introducing cool balance and contemporary appeal.
Slate Grey – Providing understated depth within the geometric layout.
Ice Blue – Found in the marbled viscose panels, creating light-catching highlights and textural movement.
The Tate Navy Rug captures the perfect equilibrium of structure and softness, featuring a hand-carved geometric composition enriched with tonal layering and a gentle metallic shimmer. Crafted from a luxurious wool-viscose blend, it delivers both comfort and style — durable, tactile, and visually dynamic. With its deep, moody blues and reflective texture, this rug adds depth, sophistication, and a modern designer edge to any interior space.
Important Note
The Tate collection features a viscose blend that naturally produces a light-reflective sheen. As a result, the rug’s shade will appear lighter or darker depending on the lighting and viewing angle. This rug also displays directional shading — the colour tone changes depending on how the pile is brushed, similar to the natural shading found in traditional carpets.
🐑 Handmade Wool Rug Characteristics
Our handmade wool rugs are individually crafted, so each one is unique with natural variations known as abrash in colour, size, design, pattern, yarn, stitching, and texture. Shedding is normal and expected with all wool rugs — sometimes lasting for the rug’s entire life — but it does not affect durability. Loose fibres and stray threads can simply be trimmed with scissors (never pulled) to avoid damage. These natural characteristics, along with mixed yarn colours, slight imperfections, and subtle texture differences, add charm and authenticity rather than being faults. Synthetic latex backing may create a temporary smell, and wool may have a natural, earthy scent which fades over time. If you prefer a perfectly uniform look, machine-made synthetic rugs may be more suitable, and any exchange will still have its own unique variations.
