Our handmade Jute and Sisal rugs are crafted from 100% natural plant fibres, so each one is unique with natural variations known as abrash in colour, size, design, pattern, yarn, stitching, and texture. Imperfections such as mixed yarn tones, loose threads, weave irregularities, and mild fibre shedding are normal and part of their charm, not faults. These natural features give every rug its own authentic character and ensure no two are ever identical. Natural plant fibres like Jute, Sisal, and Seagrass may have a mild straw-like aroma when new, which fades with ventilation. Most are latex-free, though any synthetic latex backing can cause a temporary new rug smell. Pet owners should note that claws can catch and pull natural fibres.If you prefer a perfectly uniform appearance, a handmade or natural fibre rug may not be for you, and we suggest a machine-made synthetic rug for a more consistent look.
