Product Description:
The Maison MSO05 Sage/Ivory Rug captures the essence of timeless artisan craftsmanship through its Persian Oushak-inspired motifs and softly aged finish. Hand-knotted in India from 100% pure wool, it showcases large-scale palmettes, stylised florals, and leafy vines, elegantly framed by a classic border design. The rug’s looped, textured high-low pile and subtle hand-sheared finish create a naturally sculpted surface that enhances the intricacy of each motif. The intentionally washed-out, vintage colour palette adds warmth and authenticity, while the dense wool pile offers natural comfort and resilience underfoot. Finished with a cotton and latex backing, it reflects enduring quality and meticulous craftsmanship.
Sage Green – Dominating the field with a calm, earthy tone that provides a refreshing yet grounded foundation.
Ivory – Prominent throughout the border and floral motifs, adding contrast and brightness to the design.
Soft Beige – Interwoven through the pattern, introducing gentle warmth and subtle tonal balance.
Clay – Found within the floral accents and borders, contributing a warm, sun-baked richness.
Pale Blue – Lightly woven into select vine and medallion details, lending a soft, cool undertone.
Muted Taupe – Used sparingly throughout the outlines, adding definition and aged depth to the pattern.
The Maison MSO05 Sage/Ivory Rug presents a refined Oushak-style pattern featuring large-scale palmettes, stylised florals, and leafy vines, arranged within a traditional framed border and rendered in a calming palette of Sage Green, Ivory, Soft Beige, Clay, Pale Blue, and Muted Taupe. Hand-knotted in India from 100% wool, it features a looped, textured high-low pile (13 mm) with a hand-sheared finish, resulting in a naturally sculpted surface that radiates artisanal charm. The intentionally aged, washed-out tones give it an antique, heirloom appeal, while the cotton-latex backing ensures lasting strength and stability. Perfect for neutral, rustic, or country-inspired interiors, this rug brings natural sophistication and enduring comfort to any living space.
🐑 Handmade Wool Rug Characteristics
Our handmade wool rugs are individually crafted, so each one is unique with natural variations known as abrash in colour, size, design, pattern, yarn, stitching, and texture. Shedding is normal and expected with all wool rugs — sometimes lasting for the rug’s entire life — but it does not affect durability. Loose fibres and stray threads can simply be trimmed with scissors (never pulled) to avoid damage. These natural characteristics, along with mixed yarn colours, slight imperfections, and subtle texture differences, add charm and authenticity rather than being faults. Synthetic latex backing may create a temporary smell, and wool may have a natural, earthy scent which fades over time. If you prefer a perfectly uniform look, machine-made synthetic rugs may be more suitable, and any exchange will still have its own unique variations.
