Product Description:
The Maison MSO04 Ivory/Taupe Rug captures the perfect balance of traditional elegance and natural warmth. Inspired by Persian Oushak-style artistry, it features large-scale palmettes, stylised florals, and leafy vines, all symmetrically arranged within a refined framed border. Hand-knotted in India from 100% pure wool, this design showcases a looped, textured high-low pile with a subtle hand-sheared finish, creating a naturally sculpted surface that enhances each intricate detail. The intentionally aged, washed-out colour palette lends a time-worn authenticity reminiscent of antique Persian heirlooms, while the soft wool texture provides comfort and durability underfoot. Reinforced by a cotton and latex backing, it embodies the hallmarks of meticulous, long-lasting craftsmanship.
Ivory – Serving as the primary background tone, adding lightness and a clean, timeless foundation to the design.
Taupe – Prominent throughout the floral motifs and framing border, offering earthy depth and understated contrast.
Beige – Blended into the pattern to introduce warmth and smooth tonal transitions.
Soft Grey – Appearing within the outlines and medallion accents, lending a cool, balanced undertone.
Pale Gold – Lightly woven through select floral and vine elements, infusing the surface with gentle radiance.
Muted Sage – Subtly dispersed within leaf and vine details, adding a natural, organic touch to the composition.
The Maison MSO04 Ivory/Taupe Rug showcases a traditional Oushak-style pattern featuring large-scale palmettes, stylised florals, and leafy vines, framed by a detailed border and expressed through a delicate palette of Ivory, Taupe, Beige, Soft Grey, Pale Gold, and Muted Sage. Expertly hand-knotted in India from 100% wool, it boasts a looped, textured high-low pile (13 mm) with a hand-sheared finish, resulting in a naturally sculpted surface rich in texture and depth. The intentionally aged, washed-out tones bring vintage refinement, while the cotton-latex backing ensures strength and structure. Perfect for classic, transitional, and neutral contemporary interiors, this rug offers artisanal charm, enduring quality, and timeless sophistication.
🐑 Handmade Wool Rug Characteristics
Our handmade wool rugs are individually crafted, so each one is unique with natural variations known as abrash in colour, size, design, pattern, yarn, stitching, and texture. Shedding is normal and expected with all wool rugs — sometimes lasting for the rug’s entire life — but it does not affect durability. Loose fibres and stray threads can simply be trimmed with scissors (never pulled) to avoid damage. These natural characteristics, along with mixed yarn colours, slight imperfections, and subtle texture differences, add charm and authenticity rather than being faults. Synthetic latex backing may create a temporary smell, and wool may have a natural, earthy scent which fades over time. If you prefer a perfectly uniform look, machine-made synthetic rugs may be more suitable, and any exchange will still have its own unique variations.
