Product Description:
The Maison MSO01 Taupe/Ivory Rug embodies timeless artisan luxury with its Oushak-inspired floral design and softly faded patina. Hand-knotted in India from 100% pure wool, this rug showcases a looped, textured high-low pile with a subtle hand-sheared finish, creating a naturally sculpted surface that enhances every motif. The design features large-scale palmettes, stylised florals, and leafy vines, symmetrically arranged within a traditional framed border that adds refined balance and structure. The colour palette is intentionally aged and washed-out, evoking the character of antique Persian rugs, while its thick, woollen texture delivers enduring comfort and natural warmth underfoot. A cotton and latex backing reinforces the structure, ensuring stability and long-lasting craftsmanship.
Taupe – Acting as the dominant background colour, providing a warm, grounding base for the overall composition.
Ivory – Highlighting the ornate floral and border details, adding lightness and visual balance.
Soft Beige – Blended through the field and motifs, contributing warmth and subtle tonal harmony.
Powder Blue – Appearing within select vine and medallion elements, introducing a cool, vintage contrast.
Muted Sage – Gently woven into the leaves and scrolling vines, enhancing the natural, organic aesthetic.
Dusty Mauve – Found in accent florals and inner motifs, lending a touch of aged elegance and refined depth.
The Maison MSO01 Taupe/Ivory Rug features a symmetrically arranged Oushak-style pattern of large-scale palmettes, stylised florals, and leafy vines, framed by a decorative border and presented in a beautifully subdued palette of Taupe, Ivory, Soft Beige, Powder Blue, Muted Sage, and Dusty Mauve. Crafted by hand in India from 100% wool, its looped, textured high-low pile (13 mm) with a hand-sheared finish delivers a softly contoured, naturally sculpted surface with authentic artisan depth. Finished with a cotton-latex backing for added stability, this rug exudes timeless refinement and enduring quality. Its intentionally aged, washed-out colour palette and intricate detailing make it ideal for classic, country, and contemporary neutral interiors — a luxurious yet understated centrepiece with lasting appeal.
🐑 Handmade Wool Rug Characteristics
Our handmade wool rugs are individually crafted, so each one is unique with natural variations known as abrash in colour, size, design, pattern, yarn, stitching, and texture. Shedding is normal and expected with all wool rugs — sometimes lasting for the rug’s entire life — but it does not affect durability. Loose fibres and stray threads can simply be trimmed with scissors (never pulled) to avoid damage. These natural characteristics, along with mixed yarn colours, slight imperfections, and subtle texture differences, add charm and authenticity rather than being faults. Synthetic latex backing may create a temporary smell, and wool may have a natural, earthy scent which fades over time. If you prefer a perfectly uniform look, machine-made synthetic rugs may be more suitable, and any exchange will still have its own unique variations.
