Louis De Poortere Cities Amsterdam 9323 Orange Cut Washable Polyester Flatweave Eco-Rug

Product Description:

Louis De Poortere Cities Amsterdam 9323 Orange Cut Washable Polyester Flatweave Eco-Rug. Inspired by aerial photographs, this unique design combines a mysterious aesthetic with a sense of transparency, evoking the enchanting atmosphere of old maps. “Cities” stands out for its graphic nature, going beyond simple informational detail to deliver a true artistic visual experience. Each city has been carefully selected to represent a distinctive style and atmosphere, creating a unique personal bond with that place.

The colours and shades present in this rug include:

  • Warm Stone Grey – The dominant background shade across the entire map layout, creating a soft, urban base that allows the bolder accents to stand out. Adds a cool, modern neutrality.

  • Frosted Light Grey – Seen within the faded textures, open spaces, and distressed areas, providing subtle highlights and enhancing depth.

  • Soft Off-White – Lightly scattered throughout the cartographic pattern, lifting the overall brightness and emphasising the fine map detail.

  • Burnt Orange – The primary accent colour, used to highlight major canals, roads, and iconic Amsterdam city structures. Creates vivid contrast and brings dynamic energy to the rug.

  • Deep Copper Orange – Found in heavier map lines, key intersections, and dense architectural zones, adding richness and warmth across the design.

  • Rust Red – Present in shadowed and distressed segments of the orange regions, intensifying texture and giving the appearance of aged, historical cartography.

  • Charcoal Speckle – Lightly interwoven within the grey areas to add depth, dimension, and a vintage patina effect.

  • Pale Clay Beige – A secondary base tone blending softly into the grey foundation, offering warmth and balancing the cooler elements.

The Louis De Poortere Cities Amsterdam 9323 Orange Cut Rug is a striking, modern cartographic artwork woven into a luxurious washable polyester flatweave. Featuring a dramatic interplay of Warm Stone Grey, Frosted Light Grey, Soft Off-White, Burnt Orange, Deep Copper Orange, Rust Red, Charcoal Speckle, and Pale Clay Beige, it beautifully captures the iconic curves and canals of Amsterdam in a bold, contemporary palette. Crafted on Jacquard Wilton looms with multi-layered texture, distressed detailing, and hand-finished reinforced edges, this rug combines high design with everyday practicality. Its flat, durable, mono-material construction makes it fully recyclable, aligning with Louis De Poortere’s innovative Eco philosophy. Perfect for modern living rooms, stylish bedrooms, creative workspaces, or statement interiors, this piece delivers both visual impact and eco-conscious craftsmanship—a sophisticated fusion of urban mapping and sustainable luxury.

Over a century of skill and craftsmanship is woven into every rug. Woven on Jacquard Wilton looms, each beautiful piece features multiple layers of texture, distressed areas, and intricate stitching to produce an authentic vintage look.

Available in several colours, their timeless appeal suits both modern and classical décor—there is always a Cities rug to complement your space.

Crafted in a fashionable flatweave construction, all Louis De Poortere rugs are hand-finished with reinforced corners and an anti-slip layer for a secure fit. Each rug is woven in 7 standard sizes ranging from 60 × 90 cm to 280 × 360 cm, ensuring a perfect size for every room.

Louis De Poortere’s Eco Rug Collection 2024 reflects a commitment to sustainability, circularity, and long-lasting quality. These rugs are made using a 100% mono-material polyester construction, ensuring they are fully recyclable without compromising style or performance. Polyester fibres offer stronger durability than cotton, wearing three times slower under the same conditions, meaning a significantly longer lifespan.

With polyester being endlessly recyclable, Eco rugs support the brand’s movement towards a circular product model. Recycling reduces the need for new raw materials and allows the fibres to be reused repeatedly without degrading in quality.

Through the Take Care Program, Louis De Poortere refurbishes or recycles all returned rugs. Refurbished rugs find new homes through second-hand sales, while damaged rugs are reduced back into polyester fibres for future use. Currently, Eco rugs are woven from 100% PET, with 20% already recycled (rPET). The long-term goal is 100% recycled polyester supported by the rugs returned through the circular programme.
