La Playa features a mottled beaded pebble texture with a soft, supple, blanket-like construction that is not rigid, allowing for slight stretch and natural movement. It is a very delicate mottled loop pile – if any loops are pulled, snagged, or caught by pets or heels, the rug may run. The wool content means the rug will naturally shed fibres and may have imperfections or loose threads. As a delicate item, it is not recommended for high-traffic areas or homes with pets and children.
Our wool rugs are handmade, meaning each piece is unique. They may feature natural imperfections known as ‘Abrash’, which include variations in colour, size, design, pattern, yarn, stitching, and texture. These elements – such as loose threads, mixed colour yarns, and minor fibre shedding – contribute to the rug’s character and charm.
Stray fibres can be carefully trimmed with scissors. Avoid pulling them, as this may damage the weave. Shedding is normal in wool rugs and is not considered a manufacturing fault. It is a natural characteristic that doesn’t affect durability – in some cases, shedding may continue for the lifetime of the rug.
If you prefer consistency and uniformity, we recommend opting for a machine-made rug crafted from synthetic materials. Please be aware that even if you request an exchange, your replacement rug will also have its own distinct characteristics and imperfections.
