Product Description:
The Hague Modern Plain Geometric Wool Rug in Taupe combines architectural precision with tactile luxury, creating a statement piece that balances depth, texture, and simplicity. Hand-carved with 3D geometric ridges, its pattern flows with sculptural movement while adding refined dimension to any space. The loop pile base pairs seamlessly with the cut pile pattern, producing a hi-low relief texture that beautifully plays with light and shadow.
Each rug is handmade in India using 100% pure wool, delivering both warmth and natural resilience. The 10–14mm pile height creates a cushioned surface that feels luxuriously soft underfoot, while the cotton and latex backing ensures lasting shape and durability. The Taupe hue blends neutral beige undertones with a subtle hint of stone, resulting in a versatile mid-tone that complements a wide range of décor — from minimalist and modern to cosy and traditional interiors.
Designed to bring a sense of calm structure to living rooms, bedrooms, and open-plan spaces, this piece adds sophisticated texture without overwhelming the room. The ridged pattern enhances its hand-carved artistry, turning a simple geometric concept into a tactile visual statement.
The colour and shade present in this rug include:
Taupe – A warm neutral shade with subtle stone undertones that adapt to both cool and warm lighting. The colour’s natural balance adds depth and elegance, making it a timeless choice for modern interiors.
The Hague Taupe Wool Rug features a loop pile base with a cut pile pattern, hand-carved to create a 3D geometric hi-low texture that highlights the craftsmanship behind every piece. Made from 100% wool with a cotton and latex backing, it delivers lasting quality and tactile comfort. The muted taupe tone enhances the sculptural form of the design, offering both visual warmth and refined sophistication. Perfect for neutral interiors seeking a touch of texture and quiet luxury.
Important Note:
We feel that Hague prioritises aesthetics over practicality, as some customers may find the raised ridges slightly uncomfortable underfoot. We recommend choosing the larger sizes in the Hague collection — particularly 160 x 230 cm and 200 x 290 cm — to best showcase the geometric carving. Smaller sizes may appear more condensed due to the pattern scale.
Design Note:
Each Hague Rug features a non-repeating pattern, meaning that if more than one rug is purchased, the carved line direction and layout may not align exactly. This is intentional and reflects the handmade individuality of each piece.
🐑 Handmade Wool Rug Characteristics
Our handmade wool rugs are individually crafted, so each one is unique with natural variations known as abrash in colour, size, design, pattern, yarn, stitching, and texture. Shedding is normal and expected with all wool rugs — sometimes lasting for the rug’s entire life — but it does not affect durability. Loose fibres and stray threads can simply be trimmed with scissors (never pulled) to avoid damage. These natural characteristics, along with mixed yarn colours, slight imperfections, and subtle texture differences, add charm and authenticity rather than being faults. Synthetic latex backing may create a temporary smell, and wool may have a natural, earthy scent which fades over time. If you prefer a perfectly uniform look, machine-made synthetic rugs may be more suitable, and any exchange will still have its own unique variations.
